Feral Tamer_Files

jondevarthur edited this page Sep 28, 2026 · 10 revisions

This page goes over the various files installed and used by Feral Tamer by default. This section is organised by the structure of the \Graphics\ folders. Looking for the download? Click here!

\Graphics\Icons\

Required files:

  • evoNo - shows if evolution requirements are not met
  • evoOK - shows if evolution requirements are met
  • convOK, evoOK_menu, evoOK_form, evoNO_form - show if the appropriate setting in Setup is disabled. In-line text indicator of status.

Optional files

The following only show as part of Evolution method detail descriptions and can be removed if those descriptions are rewritten:

  • evoBadge, evoDivide, evoFusion, evoItem, evoLV, evoMAX, evoMon, evoMove, evoPoke, evoRibbon, evoShiny, evoTime, evoWeather, Female, Male
  • status[STATUSNAME] and types[TYPENAME]

Redundant files (to be removed in future updates, they remain in case those updates require them again):

  • ConvertForm, convertShiny

\Graphics\UI\pluginFeralTamer\

  • basestats, basestats_shadow, ratebar - graphics used for the various data bars across both menus.
  • choice 0, choice tech - choice window frames used in place of defaults. These are defined in the setup menu; copy any others that you use here.
  • conv_ready, conv_ready_max - displays on the conversion screen to indicate the Pokemon is ready to convert from data. _max is used when the rate is 200%.
  • convert_bar, convert_bar_full, convert_bar_max - displays behind text and icon in battle at 0, 100% and 200% thresholds respectively. This is a full-screen image that slides in and out from the right.
  • convert_bg, devolution_bg - backgrounds used in their respective variants of the evolution animation screen. The evolution menu's standard evolution screen uses the default evolution background located in \Graphics\UI
  • form, shiny, overlay_lv - used in rendering various bits of information on the conversion screen.
  • screen_convert
  • screen_digi_post, screen_digi_post_lower, screen_digi_pre, screen_digi_pre_lower - separate images files are used for the evolution and devolution variations of the evolution menu. These screens are layered in the following order: camera > screen_digi_[type] > screen_digi_[type]_lower > text and graphics > selection menu.
  • screen_digi - it is technically possible to load into a 'blank' version of the evolution screen (neither evolution nor devolution selected). This is included as a fallback.

\Graphics\UI\plugin\FeralTamer\convertscreen_camera and \Graphics\UI\plugin\FeralTamer\evoscreen_camera

  • All files in these folders are variants of camera_x; a default image, 'camera', is used when requirements are not met. Three checks occur in this order: PokemonID_Form, PokemonID and Pokemon's primary Type. Files should be named to match - e.g. camera_KYUREM_1, camera_KYUREM and camera_ICE. If a valid camera image is found, that image will be shown. If none can be found, 'camera' will be shown as the default.
  • A folder per screen (convert screen and evolution screen) are provided to allow different graphics if wanted; it is safe to copy the same files between both or have them be completely different.
  • Conversion only special layers:
    • camera_max is an overlay that displays at 200% conversion rate.
    • camera_ready is an overlay that displays between 100 and 199% conversion rate.
    • camera_shiny shows as a quick visual confirmation that the Pokemon is indeed shiny.
  • All contents other than camera.png and _max/_ready/_shiny are just examples and can be deleted safely. You do not need an image per type, pokemon or pokemon_form.

\PBS\

Two PBS files are supplied:

  • Pokemon.txt - this is a sample PBS to show specifically how the Evolution screen can look with broader, 'tree'-style evolutions. It covers Gens 1-5 but has not been balance checked in the slightest, it is purely for demo purposes and is not required.
  • Ribbons_feralsuite.txt - this is used for how the plugin handles the Ninjask method by default (a ribbon is given to the Pokemon to denote they have shed their skin, preventing abuse of the menu creating infinite Shedinja). It is not necessary if this method is not used, and is primarily provided for the sake of completeness.

\Plugins[FT06]FeralTamer\

  • meta.txt - mandatory part of PE Plugin structure.
  • 00_readme - basic readme file for quick reference
  • 01_setup - contains all essential setup code for both convert and evolution menus. While no changes are required for other files, this one will require some amount of tweaking to meet your needs. A detailed description of this file is provided.
  • 01a_evolutionhandler - contains the alternative approach to evolution handlers used by the evolution menu. While you do not need to touch this, editing will be necessary if you either a) add new methods of evolution or b) want to change the 'explanation' text that shows on the screen to say what the evolution method is.
  • 01b_talents_compatability - contains settings for Feral Talents. Please see that plugin for instructions (when released).
  • 02_code_convert - handles various calls needed for conversion/research.
  • 03_code_digivolution - handles various calls needed for the digivolution menu.
  • 04_code_screens - handles the actual code for both menus.
  • 05_convertanimation - handles customised versions of the evolution animation used by both menus.
  • 06_optional_convert_battlecode - edits the very specific bits of code to make conversion/research work in battle. This is the only file likely to cause conflicts.
  • 07_supplementarycode - this is code ported from the plugin Feral Terminal. If using Feral Terminal, this will technically be in conflict however none of the code will (or, more accurately accounting for human error, should) be different so no actual conflicts will occur. There is no need to remove this file as a result.
