Troubleshooting
The daily autopilot is driven by WordPress' WP-Cron, which normally fires when visitors load your site. A quiet site may delay or skip runs:
- Use a real cron job (
wp-cronvia hosting) or a plugin that triggers it (e.g. "WP Crontrol" / hosted cron). - Verify with Overview → Generate article now — if the manual run works, only the scheduler is affected.
Add the key in Settings → API keys and save before generating. The wizard also asks for it on first setup.
The quality gate saves an article as a draft when internal links are missing or the text is too short — by design, so you review before publishing. Check Overview → Recent runs for which check fired; toggling Proofread (Settings → AI instructions) usually fixes weak output. You can also change the default status in Settings → Basic settings.
Image generation cost runs on your own API plan:
- The error is repeated once to the log and further body images are skipped for that article by design (a failed first call usually means the rest would fail too).
- Switch to a different image model, or fall back to stock photos / media library IDs.
- "quota|429" hints in the log mean your provider's quota/billing needs attention.
Openverse works without a key; Pexels and Pixabay work best with their free API keys (Settings → Featured image). If a download fails, the run logs it and the article is saved without that image.
Fixed in 1.6.10 — update the plugin if you see an empty model list in Settings or the wizard.
- Create an OAuth client ID (Web application) in Google Cloud Console with the Search Console API enabled.
- Add this redirect URI to the app's authorized redirect URIs (shown under the GSC field after entering a Client ID): the plugin shows it for you.
- Paste Client ID + Secret here, save, then click Connect and pick the property.
- "Fetch from GSC" pulls the query list; saved queries feed the topic queue.
They need a Serper.dev API key (Settings → SEO & connections). Without it the feature is simply inactive — everything else works.
Use the built-in Test buttons: they call your endpoint from the server and show the response, so you can distinguish plugin vs webhook-side issues. Keep URLs exact (including any secret path segments).
Advisory only — more than 5 articles or 6 AI images were generated this month. Generation continues; counters reset monthly and cost runs on your own API plan. No limit is ever hard-blocked.
Everything is included now: no license activation needed, the PRO badge and upgrade buttons are gone, and the old Freemius data can stay in your database harmlessly. If you were subscribed, cancel at freemius.com — every feature remains free.
The plugin ships a blueprint that pre-fills demo settings; make sure networking is enabled for the preview to load external content (news RSS, stock photos).
