JCSS-0.2.1.dmgand drag JCSS to Applications, or JCSS › Check for Updates… if you have it. - Windows (10 or 11, 64-bit): run

Fixed in 0.2.1
- Moving a layer, a fader or anything else no longer re-prepares every graphic and effect. 0.2.0 did that after every change, which held up the program; now it happens only when graphics, effects or the canvas size change.
0.2.0's notes cover everything else new: the editor tab, Keys mode, toasts, the vertical layout, audio monitoring per input, templates, effects, and the Windows installer.
JCSS 0.2.0 (alpha)
JCSS is alpha software. Expect bugs and changes that break projects between versions. Report problems to jcss@joshcirre.com.
Install
- Mac (Apple Silicon, macOS 15+): open
JCSS-0.2.0.dmgand drag JCSS to Applications. If you have 0.1.0, JCSS › Check for Updates… brings this in. - Windows (10 or 11, 64-bit): run
JCSS-0.2.0-windows-setup.exe. It installs for your user (no admin prompt) with a Start menu shortcut and an uninstaller. It isn't code-signed yet: on "Windows protected your PC", choose More info › Run anyway.
New in 0.2.0
- The editor is a tab, and it opens your newest recording as it went out: a scene per stretch between scene changes and chapter or flub markers, ready to cut. Recordings with a vertical version are edited together with it (16:9 | 9:16).
- Keys mode: click any control and press a key, a Stream Deck button or the pedal to bind it. Scenes, shots, markers, record, cues and ATEM inputs are all bindable.
- Toasts when you drop a marker and when a recording is saved (with Open in Editor).
- A separate vertical layout per scene, and a choice of which layer zoom and cut move.
- Audio: delay to line up with the picture, mono, and headphone monitoring per input.
- Graphics: delete templates; fill color and background opacity for cards; graphics and effects are prepared ahead so the first one doesn't stall the picture.
- Projects: rename in place, a saved indicator, Save as Template and New Project from Template.
- Effects you can write (film grain, halation, vignette, shake, handheld) and the agent tools to make your own.
- A branded installer window on the Mac, and a real installer on Windows.

What's in it
- Set up by talking: on first run, pick the AI you already use (Claude Code or Codex) and describe what you're making. It looks at your cameras and mics and builds your scenes while you watch.
- Scenes and layers: cameras, screens, images and guest seats; move, resize, crop, round, fade and rotate each one; add, duplicate, rename and reorder scenes.
- Motion: scenes that move (shared layers glide to their new place), and layers and graphics that slide, zoom, pop, rotate or wipe in.
- Graphics: lower thirds and title cards from templates, with words you change live.
- Audio: as many microphones and music beds as you need, each with its own fader; music ducks under speech.
- Recording: the program plus a clean file per camera and a track per mic.
- Editor (Mac): make a short video from images, clips and a brief, then change it by asking.
- Agents: everything is plain files and an MCP server, so Claude Desktop and other agents can drive the studio.
