Haven 4.6: glass menus

New in 4.6: glass menus

• The hold-OK app options, rename, confirmations and other pop-ups now use the same glass look as the rest of Haven: a frosted panel with the wallpaper blurred behind it, a glass highlight on the focused item, and glass buttons.
• Fixes the glass position for windows smaller than the screen.

Updating: Haven Settings > About > Check for updates, or download haven.apk below.

Haven 4.5: glass look

New in 4.5: a glass look

A simple take on Apple's Liquid Glass. The top bar, app tiles, Continue watching and Top picks cards, and the Settings page get:

• a frosted fill that shows the blurred wallpaper behind them,
• a light-catching rim,
• a soft sheen across the top.

No refraction or animation, so it costs nothing in speed.

Haven 4.4: uninstall from Haven Settings

New in 4.4

• Uninstall from Haven: Haven Settings > System > Uninstall Haven. Haven first undoes what it changed outside itself (layout backup, animation speed, its Home-button service), then Android asks you to confirm. If you cancel, Haven puts everything back.

Haven 4.3: install from the TV, updates itself

New in 4.3

• Install without a computer. On the TV: install Downloader, open https://github.com/joydeepsjce/haven-tv/releases/latest/download/haven.apk, install, open Haven. Set up Haven walks you through the rest with the remote (Home button, Continue watching, weather, Recent apps, updates). The adb script is now only for optional extras.
• Updates itself. Haven Settings > About > Check for updates (it also checks every 12 hours). Android asks you to confirm each update. Nothing installs silently.
• New Settings page: two panels, sections on the left; Left/Right changes values in place.
• QR code to add photos from your phone.

Updating from 4.2 or earlier: install this APK once (Downloader or adb install -r haven.apk). Future updates come through Haven itself.

Haven 4.2: movie art and your own photos

New in 4.2

• Movie & show art wallpaper: Haven Settings > Wallpaper > Movie & show art. Uses the artwork from your Continue watching and Top picks rows (no API key). When you move to a card, the wallpaper changes to that title.
• Add your own photos without adb: Haven Settings > Add your own photos
  • From your phone: open the address the TV shows (same Wi-Fi) and pick photos. The page only runs while that window is open, behind a 4-digit code.
  • From a USB drive: copies JPG/PNG/WebP photos from the drive.
  • Wallpaper > My photos shows only yours.

Also includes 4.1's support for Projectivy wallpaper plugins.

Updating: adb install -r haven-4.2.apk. Your layout and permissions stay. For USB import, run the setup script again or allow photo access when the TV asks.

Haven 4.1: wallpaper plugins

New: Projectivy wallpaper plugins. Haven can now use wallpaper plugins made for Projectivy Launcher (Bing photo of the day, Apple aerials, TMDB movie art, Immich, Jellyfin and more).

1. Install a plugin APK, e.g. Photo of the Day
2. Haven Settings > Wallpaper > choose the plugin (its own settings are right below)

Still images, drawables and colours are supported; video and Lottie wallpapers aren't yet. Tested with Photo of the Day on a TCL Google TV.

Updating from 4.0: install over it with adb install -r haven-4.1.apk. Your layout and permissions stay.

Haven 4.0

First release.

Install: turn on Network debugging on the TV, then run
sh setup.sh <tv-ip> haven-4.0.apk (or setup.ps1 -Tv <tv-ip> -Apk haven-4.0.apk on Windows). See the README.

• Apple TV-style home: Recent, Continue watching, Top picks (incl. Netflix trending), Favourites, Inputs, Apps
• Home button opens Haven instantly (accessibility service, no flash of the stock launcher)
• 26 nature wallpapers, weather, search, edit mode with folders
• No ads, no tracking, no root

Tested on a TCL Google TV (Android 12). Reports from other devices welcome.
