MediaClinic v0.19.1
Windows build of MediaClinic 0.19.1, a library health tool for Plex, Kodi, Emby and Jellyfin movie libraries.
Download
MediaClinic-0.19.1-win64.zip (about 19 MB). Unzip it to a folder you can write to (not C:\Program Files, because logs\ and backup\ are created next to the exe), open the MediaClinic folder and double-click MediaClinic.exe. No Python needed.
SHA-256: c64b5ca3a97ffbabc1cb67f88c61ff4de17c9940b8e213afef37b96a4548073a
Windows SmartScreen: the exe is not code-signed, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. You can also run the app from source (see the README).
What's new
- fanart.tv as a second image source, and frames from the video (FFmpeg) in Fetch Fanart and Fetch Backdrops
- Backup History / Undo: restore a whole run from its backup
- Enter ID…: type an IMDb or TMDb ID by hand, check it, apply it
- Kodi file names (
<video>-poster.jpg,.tbn,movie.nfo, extra fanart) found and written in the folder's style; DVD and Blu-ray folders count as one movie - Hard-coded subtitles…: mark burned-in subtitle languages by hand
- One TMDb/OMDb client with rate limits, retries and clear error messages; API keys are kept out of the log
- FFprobe runs once per video and the result is cached
- Fix: Replace All Backdrops could delete the old backdrops without a working backup (since v0.18.3). The backup works again and a failed backup stops the run first.

Build
One-folder PyInstaller build with Python 3.12.10, Pillow 12.3.0 and openpyxl 3.1.5. Settings, API keys and caches are stored in %APPDATA%\MediaMetadataClinic\ (shared with the source version). FFmpeg/FFprobe are not included; point Settings → Tools to them.
Bundled components are under permissive licences (PSF, Tcl/Tk, MIT-CMU, MIT, Apache 2.0); the PyInstaller bootloader is GPL with the exception that allows distribution under any licence. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
MediaClinic v0.19.0
Source release. No Windows exe for this version: the next build comes with v0.19.1. The Windows download MediaClinic-0.18.4-win64.zip stays available in the v0.18.4 release.
To run v0.19.0, use Python 3.10 or newer: download the source code below, then pip install -r requirements.txt (optional) and python mediaclinic.py.
New
- Several library folders in one table: Libraries… dialog, library filter, optional Library column, offline libraries keep their cached rows
- Verify IMDb/TMDb IDs against TMDb (title in any translation, year ±1) with a sortable report
- Auto Repair for one movie, a selection or the whole library, with a dry-run preview; artwork is never touched
- Window sizes and positions are remembered; rows refresh automatically after every change
Fixed
- Images below the minimum size were reported as corrupt; image status now separates corrupt, too small, wrong proportions and wrong format
- Sync Ratings: zero-votes choice for all remaining movies, primary source wins, 0.0 / 0 never written
- Every NFO/XML write is atomic; a movie.xml with a
<Title>root is no longer damaged when an ID is added
Full list in CHANGELOG.md. Self-test: about 285 checks, run in CI.
MediaClinic v0.18.4
MediaClinic 0.18.4: faster scans and tools for large libraries
Download MediaClinic-0.18.4-win64.zip, unzip it, open the MediaClinic folder and double-click MediaClinic.exe. No Python needed. Keep the whole folder together and unzip it to a folder you can write to (not C:\Program Files): the app creates logs\ and backup\ next to the exe. FFmpeg is optional and installed separately.

Highlights
- Parallel scanning (settings
scan_workersandffprobe_workers) and one directory listing per movie: faster, especially on network shares. Quick Scan now probes changed movies with FFprobe when the box is ticked. - Large libraries: clickable Errors/Warnings counters, Problems only, filter by health reason, column chooser, Library Statistics.
- Duplicate detection: new health rule and a Duplicate Movies Report.
- Copy poster.jpg → folder.jpg where they differ (one movie, a selection or the whole library), with backup.
- Export: IMDB Link, TMDB Link, Outline and Plot fields and a new Identify preset. Kodi v17+
<ratings>blocks are read. - Fixes: Update (no FFprobe) re-reads external subtitles; no more stale "title mismatch" reasons from the cache; the health report keeps warnings of red movies; title comparison tolerates Unicode, HTML-entity and quote differences.
Full list in the changelog.
Notes
- The exe is not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen may warn: click More info, then Run anyway. Antivirus software may analyse a new unsigned program on first start, which can make it slow to open once.
- Built with PyInstaller 6.22.3 on Python 3.12.10. Tested on Windows: the self-test (129/129) unfrozen and inside a frozen test build, and 18/18 checks on the shipped exe (start-up without console or errors, logs and backup next to the exe, Settings and Help dialogs, Full Scan, poster → folder fix, Excel export, TMDB thumbnails, settings remembered after restart), plus a start from the extracted zip.
- Bundled components are the Python runtime (PSF), Tcl/Tk (BSD-style), Pillow (MIT-CMU), openpyxl and et_xmlfile (MIT), OpenSSL (Apache 2.0) and the PyInstaller bootloader (GPL with the PyInstaller exception that allows distributing programs built with it). No GPL or AGPL component without that exception.
- Settings, API keys and the last scan are stored in
%APPDATA%\MediaMetadataClinic\and are shared with the Python version of the app.

Notes
- The exe is not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen may warn: click More info, then Run anyway. Antivirus software may analyse a new unsigned program on first start, which can make it slow to open once.
- Built with PyInstaller 6.22 on Python 3.12 (one-folder build, 39 MB unpacked). Tested on Windows 11: windowed launch, all tabs and dialogs, a real scan, fix and Excel export on a sample library, settings persistence across restarts, and a launch from the extracted zip. The 98-check self-test passes on the build.
- Bundled components are Python, Pillow (HPND) and openpyxl (MIT). No GPL or AGPL.
