Off line area download

The fieldwork app supports off-line area downloading, to ease the navigation in terrain in areas with poor or no network coverage. Firstly, zoom in to the area you want to download. We recommend downloading only a small area, as the map tiles are rather large. Firstly, open the context menu and select Download off-line area.

Next, tap the two corners of the rectangle you want to download in the map.

Review the rectangle.

After a while, you will be prompted to confirm the selection. If you tap on the Download selection button, the tiles will be downloaded.

A progress bar will be displayed. Please do not cloes the app while downloading the files, the download will not be resumed. After the off-line area download is completed, a success message will be displayed.

Note that there may be some off-set from your selected area, as map tiles do not always line up with user-selected rectangles. To try out the off-line area, you can turn off your phone's newtork access and the map will be changed automatically. If you do not wish to do that but you still want to try it out, change the map layer to the cached map layer. The off-line approach has its merits - the map area will be outlined in red.
