WCopyfind compares a collection of documents to find the phrases they share. It was written to detect plagiarism in student papers and is used for many other kinds of comparisons.
Download WCopyfind-6.0.2-win-x64.zip, unzip it, and run WCopyfind.exe. It needs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and no installation. To compare PDF files, put pdftotext.exe (from the free Xpdf tools) in the same folder.
New in 6.0
- A redesigned window in three steps: choose the documents, decide what counts as a match, compare. It can be resized, remembers your document lists, and accepts dropped files and whole folders.
- Results as they're found, with a Stop button, and sortable columns.
- New reports: a sortable, filterable list of matching pairs, and one page per pair showing the two documents side by side, with matching passages highlighted in both. Click a passage to jump to its twin; step through matches with Next and Previous.
- More reliable: a document that can't be read is listed and skipped instead of stopping the run;
.docfiles are read with Windows' own reader; file names in any language work; settings from WCopyfind 5 carry over. - Many fixes, listed in the README.
New in 6.0.2
- A new program icon: two pages with the same highlighted phrase, linked, replacing the generic icon WCopyfind had used since it was first written.
New in 6.0.1
- Licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later.
