WRepeatfind looks within one document, or a book made of chapter files, for phrases it repeats, so writers can catch accidental repetition, such as a passage that was moved while editing but whose original was never deleted.

Download WRepeatfind-1.0.1-win-x64.zip, unzip it, and run WRepeatfind.exe. It needs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and no installation. It reads .docx, .doc, .txt, and web pages, and you can paste text straight in. To check PDF files, put pdftotext.exe (from the free Xpdf tools) in the same folder.

Features

  • Finds repeated phrases even when a few words differ, and groups a passage with all its copies.
  • Checks the chapters of a book together, so a paragraph repeated in chapter 2 and chapter 9 is found.
  • Shows the whole text in your browser with each repeat highlighted in its own color; click one to jump to its next copy, and dismiss repeats that are intentional.

New in 1.0.1

  • .doc files are read with Windows' own reader, as intended.
  • An About box with a link to the web site.
  • Licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later.
  • A clearer message when a file may be damaged.
