Frequently Asked Questions

What is uxplay-windows?

uxplay-windows lets you mirror or stream content from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to a Windows PC using AirPlay.

Why does Windows Defender show a security warning?

The app may show a warning because the installer is not (yet) digitally signed. Only download uxplay-windows from the official GitHub Releases page.

Which Windows versions are supported?

Windows 11 is supported. Windows 10 should also work for the time being but I'm phasing it out once microsoft stops supporting it.

Should I download x64 or ARM64?

Download x64 for most Intel and AMD computers.

Download ARM64 only for a Windows on ARM device, such as a Snapdragon-powered PC.

Why does nothing happen when I open it?

uxplay-windows runs in the Windows system tray, on the bottom right of your task bar near the Clock. Left-click its icon to open the settings.

Can I stream DRM-protected content?

Some services, such as Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+, use DRM protection. Their video may appear black, fail to play or only transmit audio when using AirPlay mirroring.

This is a limitation imposed by the streaming service and AirPlay’s content protection, not usually a problem with uxplay-windows.

Do I need to install anything on my Apple device?

No. AirPlay and Screen Mirroring are already included with iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Do both devices need to be on the same network?

Yes. Your Apple device and Windows PC should be connected to the same Wi-Fi (LAN).

Can uxplay-windows start automatically?

Yes, automatic startup can be enabled from the configuration window.

Is it free?

Yes. uxplay-windows is free and open source.

Where can I get help?
