This page explains how to install VRViewer and prepare your VR environment.
For version-specific changes, consult the release notes.
- Visit the official VRViewer website.
- Review the available version and product information.
- Download the installer appropriate for your intended use.
Use official LTM Technologies download links. Avoid installers obtained from untrusted third-party websites.
- Close VRViewer if it is already running.
- Run the downloaded installer.
- Follow the installation prompts.
- If Windows displays a security warning, verify the file's source and digital signature before proceeding.
- Launch VRViewer after installation completes.
If installation fails, record the exact error message and the installer version.
VRViewer's available capture sources may have different requirements.
Before testing a source:
- Confirm that the relevant VR software is installed and functioning.
- If using OpenXR, identify the active OpenXR runtime.
- If using SteamVR, confirm that SteamVR starts successfully.
- Launch the VR application or environment you intend to view.
- Check the Compatibility page for additional information.
A working headset or runtime does not automatically guarantee that every application or rendering path can be captured.
- Open VRViewer.
- Review the sources available in your installed version.
- Select the source appropriate for your setup.
- Follow any source-specific instructions shown by the application.
- Confirm whether an image is displayed.
If the viewer displays a black screen or the selected source fails to initialize, see Troubleshooting.
Check the official website and GitHub Releases for available versions and release notes.
Before updating, review any version-specific installation instructions. Close the application before running an installer if the update requires it.
Use the standard Windows application-uninstallation interface and follow the prompts for VRViewer.
Do not manually delete application data or configuration files unless you understand what they contain and intend to remove them.
If you cannot complete installation or setup:
- Review Troubleshooting.
- Check existing GitHub Issues.
- Submit a bug report with your application version, Windows version, error message, and steps to reproduce the problem.
