Highlights
- Added searchable Moments to the editor and global Assets library, with exact and related-meaning retrieval across visual analysis, transcripts, metadata, and remembered footage.
- Added Footage Memory for saving, finding, previewing, and forgetting user-confirmed labels on exact source ranges with project or local-library scope.
- Added on-device visual similarity and semantic retrieval using native Apple frameworks, with no additional model download or cloud dependency.
- Added reusable moment actions, cross-project deduplication, progressive library loading, and filters for project, media type, duration, memory, and analysis state.
- Extended Codex and Claude Code access with approval-gated Footage Memory tools, richer search results, safer workflow recovery, and deterministic timeline planning.
- Fixed source-import metadata drift, removed-project resurrection, MCP semantic-search transport, and small library layout inconsistencies.
Release Scope

ca149df..d92b798. - Added rebuildable local library indexes, optional Footage Memory records, and native Apple Vision and Natural Language helpers without renaming source files or AVE-managed media copies.
- Advanced the AVE MCP contract to revision 8 and its tool contract to revision 14, exposing 22 tools behind 9 permission scopes.
- Kept the existing Local AI runtime, starter model payload, Sparkle signing identity, minimum update build 18, and full-package update path unchanged.
- This remains a complete AVE package distributed through
lemberalla/ave-releases-v2; the legacy compatibility bridge remains untouched.
Verification
Release verification includes:
- Searching assets and moments by exact words and related meaning, previewing bounded ranges, finding similar footage, and using a selected moment in the current project.
- Remembering and forgetting exact ranges with project and local-library scope, including approval-gated Codex and Claude Code workflows.
- Confirming identical source media is deduplicated across projects while preserving access to each source project.
- Confirming library filters, counters, progressive loading, empty states, card actions, and long metadata remain stable across Assets and Moments views.
- Confirming deleted projects stay deleted and media imports do not fail because harmless file metadata changed while content remained identical.
- Full renderer and render-worker builds, typecheck, AI prompt checks, library-search evaluation, regression suite, dependency audits, package audit, signing, notarization, stapling, DMG integrity, and Sparkle signature verification.
- Installing the exact DMG before publication and testing the update from the previously published full AVE build immediately after publication.
Known Constraints
- Footage Memory records only user-confirmed meaning for an exact source range; visually similar footage remains a reviewable suggestion and is never assigned that identity automatically.
- Search quality depends on the analysis available for each asset. Unanalyzed footage exposes conservative filename and metadata evidence until analysis is complete.
- The global Moments index is local and rebuildable. Large existing libraries may briefly update their index on the first launch after upgrading.
- Original files and AVE-managed media copies are not renamed by Footage Memory or library search.
- The complete download remains large because it includes AVE's Local AI runtime and starter models.
