What's changed

  • First launch now opens a guided setup screen instead of immediately showing the Finder folder picker.
  • The setup screen explains what the app does, lists Obsidian prerequisites, provides a vault folder selection button, and includes shortcut customization plus the New Note resume interval.
  • The vault picker remains native macOS/Finder-based so the app receives durable sandboxed read/write access to the selected vault.
  • README first setup instructions now match the guided setup flow.

Obsidian prerequisites

The setup checklist references Advanced URI because it is the active community plugin for URI-based Obsidian automation. Install path: Obsidian Settings -> Community plugins -> disable Restricted mode if needed -> search Advanced URI -> Install -> Enable. Append to Daily Note also expects Obsidian's Daily notes core plugin to be enabled.

macOS Gatekeeper note

This DMG is signed for local distribution testing, but it is not Apple Developer ID notarized yet. If macOS warns that it cannot verify the app, use Finder -> Control-click ObsidianSideNote.app -> Open, or run:

open /Applications/ObsidianSideNote.app
