Glideball 2.9
Spin the scroll ring harder and the page now goes farther. Glideball used to hit a speed limit at moderate spins, so a very fast spin went no farther than a fast one. A new Fast-spin reach slider (Scrolling tab, Flywheel mode) sets how far the hardest spins fly; turn it to 0% for the old behavior.
Glideball 2.8.1
Fixes a trackpad two-finger click being treated as the trackball's right button (it could open Mission Control). Also: Linux and Windows previews are now available on the website.
Glideball 2.8
Glide is now Glideball! Same app, same settings, a name that's easier to find. It renames itself on your Mac automatically — nothing to redo.
Glide 2.7.1
Glide's website has a new, easier address: glideball.netlify.app. The old address keeps working.
Glide 2.7
Automatic backups: Glide now saves a tiny snapshot of your settings every day — kept for two weeks, then monthly for a year — with a timeline on the Sync tab and one-click restore (with Undo). Glide now speaks nine languages: English, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Português (Brasil), 日本語, 한국어 and 简体中文 — pick one in Overview › General › Language.
Glide 2.6
A grand entrance.
- New launch animations: every time you start Glide you get one of six short animations, never the same twice in a row. First-time users get a longer intro with original music, leading into the Welcome Tour. Turn sounds off with 'Launch sounds' in Overview > General.
- Pages now slide between tabs, cards rise in, and today's counters count up.
- Check for Updates: a button in Overview > General, plus 'Check for Updates…' in the Glide menu and the menu-bar menu.
- Choose whether Glide shows its menu-bar icon (Overview > General).
- Fixes: installing an update relaunches properly again, and Glide never holds up logging out, restarting or shutting down.
If an update from 2.3-2.5 seems stuck on 'Restarting…', choose Quit Glide and it will finish installing.
Glide 2.5
Combos, shortcuts and a little celebration.
- Three-button combos are easier: tick buttons in the new 'New combo' row (Buttons tab), and pressing three buttons together is more forgiving.
- Keyboard shortcuts (Overview): toggle Precision, Scroll with ball and Drag lock from the keyboard, and change the pause shortcut (Control-Option-Command-G by default). All optional.
- Your trackball: lifetime totals with real-world comparisons, a 7-day chart, personal records and 17 badges to earn, celebrated once with a little confetti.
- 'Make it yours' checklist to set Glide up your way.
- Button ripples and a ring trail on the live trackball, and a 'Saved' check when settings apply.
- Celebrations and sounds can be turned off in Overview > General (sounds are off by default).
Glide 2.4
Six new features.
- Precision mode: hold (or toggle) a button to slow the cursor for pixel-perfect aim. Set the precision speed on the Pointer tab.
- Scroll with the ball: hold a button and roll the ball to scroll in any direction while the cursor stays put; let go mid-roll and it glides.
- Drag lock: press once to grab, roll to drag, press again (or click) to drop. No more holding a button while dragging.
- App setups: give any app its own pointer speed, scrolling, buttons and combos. Glide switches the moment that app comes to the front.
- Welcome Tour for new users (Help > Show Welcome Tour).
- Beta program (Overview > General): try Glide with other Kensington trackballs and get early test builds. Off by default.
Safety: pausing (Control-Option-Command-G), quitting or unplugging always undoes precision, ball scrolling and drag lock.
Glide 2.3
Send feedback right from Glide.
- Help › Send Feedback… (also in the menu bar menu and on the Overview tab): report a bug, suggest an idea or ask a question, attach screenshots or recordings, and optionally include your Glide settings and scroll log. You see everything that's sent first.
- Or use the website: glide-trackball.netlify.app/feedback
- Bug reports sent after a relaunch now include the previous session's scroll log.
Glide 2.2
Polish for one-click updates.
- Glide always checks GitHub fresh, so new versions show up right away.
- The update button is a compact pill that never crowds the top bar.
