Beta Release

Note: 1.11.0-beta.1 was withdrawn due to an editorial issue.

Please participate in the beta test! Instructions can be found at #909 .

Feature highlights:

Configuration

  • Parameter name suffixes have been renamed for clearer profile mapping:
_PRF (formerly _AC): applies to the performance profile.
_BAL (formerly _BAT): applies to the balanced profile.
_SAV (unaltered): applies to the power-saver profile.
  • Old _AC, _BAT names still work, since they're translated automatically at runtime, but updating your individual configuration is recommended. Check the output of tlp-stat --cdiff for the occurence of "#> Runtime-translated from ..." to locate affected lines.
  • _SAV parameters have been added to features that did not have them before

Processor

  • PLATFORM_PROFILE_ON_PRF/BAL/SAV: some vendor firmwares offer different or extra platform profiles, not just the standard ones. To enable automatic adaptation, the parameters are transformed into space-separated lists of options that are tried sequentially until success. The defaults have been improved:
    • If available, prefer balanced-performance over performance in the performance profile. This will reduce fan speed for certain gaming laptops (Issue #838)
    • Add cool and quiet as alternatives to low-power in the power-saver profile

Profiles

  • tlp-pd: provide SysVinit script (/etc/init.d/tlp-pd) with config file (/etc/default/tlp-pd)

Radio Devices

  • Extend device switching to uniformly cover all profiles (Issue #891):
    • performance: DEVICES_TO_ENABLE_ON_PRF, DEVICES_TO_DISABLE_ON_PRF (new), DEVICES_TO_DISABLE_ON_PRF_NOT_IN_USE (new)
    • balanced: DEVICES_TO_ENABLE_ON_BAL (new), DEVICES_TO_DISABLE_ON_BAL, DEVICES_TO_DISABLE_ON_BAL_NOT_IN_USE
    • power-saver: DEVICES_TO_ENABLE_ON_SAV (new), DEVICES_TO_DISABLE_ON_SAV (new), DEVICES_TO_DISABLE_ON_SAV_NOT_IN_USE (new)

USB

  • Exclude serial port devices - with a PL2303 or CH34x chip, for example - from autosuspend by default. To enforce autosuspend for such a device, add it to USB_ALLOWLIST.
