v1.0.32
1.0.32.0 - 2026-09-23
- Added a dedicated CIE 1931 xy chromaticity inspector with preview color density, optional sRGB / Display P3 / BT.2020 outlines, D65 reference and a pointer-linked sample marker. Extended scRGB components are preserved during coordinate conversion; black/invalid samples are omitted and stale sample markers are cleared. Includes attributed CIE observer data and coordinate regression tests.
- Added a separate Analysis inspector with overlapping RGB histogram curves, an SDR-white boundary and HDR exposure-stop grid, preview luminance statistics and pixel sampling. Histogram channels share a square-root count axis; opening Analysis refreshes missing or stale data. Readings describe the display-mapped scRGB preview, not source-file or measured panel luminance.
- Added draggable HDR/SDR comparison. Both comparison sides share the image viewport; analysis captures the HDR preview before comparison overlays. Inspector content reserves a gutter so overlay scrollbars do not cover charts or controls.
- Added a serial batch export window with format/folder settings, per-file status, cancellation and retry for unfinished items. Failed files do not stop later items; generated output names preserve existing files. Closing the window cancels the in-memory queue.
- Preserved existing destination files when export fails or is canceled: SDR crops, HDR exports and original-file copies now stage output beside the destination and replace it only after success. Ultra HDR re-probing happens before committing output, and save pickers no longer pre-delete destinations or create empty placeholders.
- Added export cancellation and a ten-minute timeout for native CLI operations, with child-process cleanup. Gain-map crop export reads JPEG segments directly instead of duplicating the entire container in memory.
- Native EXR/JXL integration tests now explicitly report missing prerequisites as skipped; set
HDRVIEWER_REQUIRE_NATIVE_TESTS=1to require them and fail on missing dependencies. Added regression coverage for destination preservation, staging cleanup, cancellation and native-process timeouts.
Install
- Download
HdrImageViewer-1.0.32-win-x64-portable.zip. - Extract the zip to a normal folder, for example
C:\Apps\HdrImageViewer. - Run
HdrImageViewer.exe.
Requires the x64 .NET 10 Desktop Runtime and Windows App Runtime 2.2. No certificate installation is required for the portable zip. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because this GitHub build is unsigned.
Recommended Install
For most users, install the Microsoft Store version so Windows handles signing and updates.
Optional Format Tools
Most common formats work out of the box. JPEG XL preview and some HDR export formats use external command-line tools when they are available.
Install optional tools with MSYS2 UCRT64:
winget install --id MSYS2.MSYS2 --source winget
C:\msys64\usr\bin\pacman.exe -Syu --noconfirm
C:\msys64\usr\bin\pacman.exe -S --needed --noconfirm mingw-w64-ucrt-x86_64-libjxl mingw-w64-ucrt-x86_64-libavif mingw-w64-ucrt-x86_64-libheifRestart HDR Image Viewer after installing. The app auto-detects tools in C:\msys64\ucrt64\bin and also checks PATH.
- JPEG XL preview:
jxlinfo.exeanddjxl.exefrom libjxl. - JPEG XL / AVIF / HEIC HDR export:
cjxl.exe,avifenc.exe, andheif-enc.exewhen installed. - Ultra HDR JPEG export: advanced users can place
ultrahdr_app.exeonPATH.
