Arnis generates Minecraft worlds from real-world data. You pick an area on the map, and Arnis builds it with its buildings, roads, railways, rivers, forests and terrain for Minecraft Java Edition, Bedrock Edition or Luanti. It's free and open source, written in Rust.
The README gives you a quick overview. This wiki goes into more detail: how to use every setting, and how Arnis works internally if you want to dig into the code or contribute.
- Getting Started: download, install and generate your first world
- Generation Settings: every setting in the app and what it does
- Command Line Usage: running Arnis without the GUI, with all flags
- One World: one persistent world that grows with every area you generate
- Gameplay Extras: moving vehicles, traffic lights, discoveries, the zombie outbreak and more
- Building Facades: photo textures on building walls
- FAQ: common questions and problems
- Data Sources: where the map, elevation, land cover and other data comes from
- Codebase Architecture & Workflow: what happens after you click Start Generation
- Element Processors: how OpenStreetMap objects turn into blocks
- Ground Generation: terrain, land cover, biomes, trees and caves
- WorldEditor System: block placement and writing Java, Bedrock and Luanti worlds
- Coordinate System: from latitude and longitude to block coordinates
- Contributing to the codebase: building Arnis, code guidelines and how to open a pull request
