Mood Shell v0.8.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 13:09

Mood Shell 0.8.0 adds faint history suggestions while you type in Zsh.

Run echo moodsh-ready, then type echo moodsh- at the next prompt. The matching suffix appears in gray. Press Right Arrow at the end of your input to accept it, then Enter to run it. Tab still completes commands and files.

Upgrade the binary and open a new terminal. Your existing moodsh init zsh line enables suggestions, including when you use --shortcuts git. Add --no-suggestions to that line and start a new shell to opt out.

  • Local command history only; no matching history means no suggestion.
  • Available in Zsh on macOS/Linux. Bash and PowerShell input behavior is unchanged.
  • Existing suggestion engines, keybindings, and history persistence settings are preserved.
  • Bundles the MIT-licensed zsh-autosuggestions v0.7.1 engine. No extra installation, network calls, or Rust calls per keystroke.
  • Real Zsh terminal tests cover typing, acceptance without execution, cancellation, Unicode, custom bindings, and Tab completion together.

Prompt colors, path preferences, Markdown themes, and Git shortcuts remain compatible. Downloads include macOS, Linux, and Windows binaries with SHA-256 checksums and third-party notices. Terminal backgrounds, cursor effects, and syntax highlighting remain outside Mood Shell's scope.

Mood Shell v0.7.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 12:40

Mood Shell 0.7.1 makes the terminal’s normal text color the default for directory paths.

New installations and configs without a path-color preference use terminal. Existing explicit choices are preserved. Both prompt layouts show the directory, with ~/… still the default format.

  • moodsh path --color theme: use your theme’s path color.
  • moodsh path --color terminal: use the default terminal text color.
  • moodsh path --format full: show the full directory.

An explicit theme set --path '#RRGGBB' now enables that color, matching the picker. Named/file previews still show the portable palette. No shell-hook changes or new dependencies.

Upgrade the binary and open a new terminal to refresh completion. Your saved palette, layout, path format, and Git shortcuts remain available. Downloads include macOS, Linux, and Windows binaries with SHA-256 checksums.

Mood Shell v0.7.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 12:12

Mood Shell 0.7.0 adds directory display controls on Zsh, Bash, and PowerShell 7.

The path already appears in both layouts. If a palette makes it hard to see, run:

moodsh path --color terminal

The directory now uses your terminal's configured foreground. Choose moodsh path --format full for the full directory, or --format home for ~/…. Restore palette coloring with --color theme. Preferences survive theme changes and stay out of exported Markdown themes.

The picker has a live P toggle for path color and labels Paper for light terminals. Applying a path hex color with 2 switches back to theme coloring. Enter saves, Esc cancels.

Existing configs retain their current appearance. Shell hooks, safe prompt rendering, no-color output, Git shortcuts, and Tab completion remain compatible. No new dependencies. New settings appear on the next prompt; reopen your shell to refresh command completion after upgrading.

Ready-to-run binaries cover Apple Silicon and Intel macOS, x64 Linux, and x64 Windows, with SHA-256 checksums. Rust is not required.

Mood Shell v0.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 20:59

Mood Shell 0.6.0 adds gprom to the opt-in Git shortcut set on Zsh, Bash, and PowerShell 7.

gprom runs git pull --rebase origin <main-branch>. It resolves the branch when invoked, preferring a valid local origin/HEAD, then common names including main and master. Missing repository, origin, or branch metadata stops the shortcut before a pull. Extra arguments such as --autostash are forwarded literally. A pull fetches and rebases the current branch using normal Git behavior.

Keep --shortcuts git in your existing init line and open a new shell after upgrading. Existing gprom aliases, functions, and executables are preserved. moodsh shortcuts git shows all 26 shortcuts.

PowerShell shortcuts raise a terminating error on Git failure and preserve $LASTEXITCODE; scripts that handle Git exit codes themselves should invoke git directly. Git is installed separately. No new Rust dependencies, configuration changes, or per-prompt work.

The release includes native Apple Silicon and Intel macOS, x64 Linux, and x64 Windows binaries with SHA-256 checksums. Rust is not required. Prompt themes, colors, layouts, and Tab completion remain compatible.

Mood Shell v0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 00:04

Mood Shell 0.5.0 adds Git shortcuts: 25 familiar names from the Oh My Zsh Git vocabulary, implemented natively for Zsh, Bash, and PowerShell 7.

Run moodsh shortcuts git to inspect every expansion. To enable them, add --shortcuts git to your existing moodsh init line and open a new shell. Try gst, gaa, gcmsg "message", gco branch, or glog.

Existing command names always win. PowerShell normally keeps its built-in gc, gl, and gp. PowerShell shortcuts raise a terminating error on Git failure and preserve $LASTEXITCODE; scripts that handle Git exit codes themselves should invoke git directly. Git is a separate prerequisite. This is a focused shortcut set, not an arbitrary shell-code loader; shortcuts stay out of Markdown themes and add no per-prompt work. Remove the flag and start a new shell to disable them.

Prompt colors, layouts, Markdown themes, Tab completion, config, and shell hooks remain compatible. No new Rust dependencies. No force-push or hard-reset shortcuts are included.

Download the archive for your platform; Rust is not required. Every archive includes checksums, documentation, and an Afterhours example theme. Terminal backgrounds, inline history suggestions, syntax highlighting, animations, and Fish support remain outside this release.

Mood Shell v0.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 23:09

Mood Shell 0.4.0 adds Tab completion to Zsh, Bash, and PowerShell without changing the prompt you already use.

  • Complete moodsh subcommands, flags, layouts, and built-in moods with Tab. Zsh and Bash also complete theme file paths. For example, type moodsh theme set em and press Tab to get ember.
  • In Zsh, Mood Shell starts the standard completion system if another framework has not already done so. Normal command and path completion works after removing Oh My Zsh.
  • Bash and PowerShell keep their existing command and path completion. Completion definitions are generated from Mood Shell's CLI at shell startup and stay current with the installed version.

This release is for Tab completion. Inline suggestions from command history are not included. The five moods, live picker, Markdown themes, runtime config, and prompt hooks remain compatible.

Every archive includes the Afterhours theme and format guide in themes/. Download the archive for your platform and follow the README to put moodsh (or moodsh.exe) on PATH. Rust and Cargo are not required. SHA-256 checksums accompany every archive. Reopen your shell after upgrading to load the new completion definitions.

This is an early public release for prompt personalization on Zsh, Bash, and PowerShell 7, with native macOS, Linux, and Windows builds. Terminal backgrounds, cursor animations, syntax highlighting, inline history suggestions, and Fish support are not implemented. Shell startup files are never edited automatically.

Mood Shell v0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 15:34

Mood Shell 0.3.0 introduces shareable Markdown themes: a palette, a layout, and the explanation behind them in one readable file.

  • moodsh theme new afterhours.md --from ocean creates an editable theme.
  • moodsh theme export my-mood.md --name my-mood shares the colors you saved in the live picker.
  • moodsh theme preview --file afterhours.md lets you inspect a local theme before saving.
  • moodsh theme apply afterhours.md validates and applies it to your next prompt.

Theme documents contain exactly one fenced moodsh block of TOML. Prose and other code blocks are never executed. New/export refuse to overwrite files; malformed themes leave the active config intact. The existing runtime config and shell hooks are unchanged. No new dependencies.

Every archive includes the Afterhours theme and format guide in themes/. Download the archive for your platform and follow the README to put moodsh (or moodsh.exe) on PATH. Rust and Cargo are not required. SHA-256 checksums accompany every archive.

This is an early public release for prompt personalization on Zsh, Bash, and PowerShell 7, with native macOS, Linux, and Windows builds. Terminal backgrounds, cursor animations, syntax highlighting, autosuggestions, and Fish support are not implemented. Shell startup files are never edited automatically.

Mood Shell v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 14:43

Make a mood your own without leaving the picker.

  • Press 1–4 in moodsh customize to edit the prompt arrow, directory, mood name, or failure color.
  • Type or paste a hex color and see it in live success and failed-command previews.
  • Apply colors to a draft, browse other moods, and save when ready. Esc discards an edit or cancels the picker; Ctrl-C cancels everything.
  • Keep your existing custom palette and config format. Shell integrations are unchanged, and no dependencies were added.
  • Clearer installation instructions for macOS, Linux, and Windows, including cargo: command not found troubleshooting.

Rust and Cargo are not required: download your platform archive, extract it, and follow the README to put moodsh (or moodsh.exe) on your PATH. SHA-256 checksum files accompany every archive.

This release customizes the prompt. Terminal backgrounds, syntax highlighting, autosuggestions, Fish support, and animations are not implemented. Shell startup files are never edited automatically.
