USB
New Features
- The available USB device listing has been updated to display improved device names when users click on "Add USB Device." Fixes
- Resolved the issue where USB device drivers could not be rolled back on Windows after forcefully stopping the Frame application or when the FrameAppService was terminated through the Task Manager.
- Fixed the problem where initiated USB driver switching could not be canceled prior to exiting the application.
Keyboard Redirection
Fixes

Resolved an issue where, on rare occasions, the Windows key would unexpectedly activate the start menu on the host system.
-
Fixed keyboard redirection within the Frame app for Linux, addressing the following key combinations:
- Alt+Tab
- Shift+Alt+Tab
- Meta+Tab
- Shift+Meta+Tab
- Meta
Please note that this solution currently supports the GNOME desktop environment exclusively.
Known Issues
- Keyboard redirection on Windows stops working when the microphone is enabled.
Application and UI
New Features
- During a session, the application now hides the Menu bar in full-screen mode.
- Users can exit full-screen mode by long-pressing the "Esc" key. (Requires Terminal version 6.38)
- Implemented a mechanism which prevents starting GPU process within FrameAppService.
- Added a media-internals view

- Fixed the bundle ID for the macOS application, enabling automatic updates.
Telemetry
New Features
- Added client machine CPU information, CPU count, GPU information, and GPU feature status, as well as RAM size to the initial app log.
- Added Frame app service logs, located at
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Frame\Logs.
Fixes
- Resolved the issue where the Logger did not flush logs periodically to a file on Windows.
- Fixed crash reporting via Sentry.
v7.1.0
Keyboard Redirection
New Features
- This feature captures keyboard input from the host operating system and transmits it to the Frame session. It operates exclusively when the Frame app is in focus and connected to the Frame session.
Bug Fixes
- Pressing the Windows key would open both the start menu in the Frame session and on the end user's device. This has been resolved.
- Forwarding modifier keys (e.g., Alt + Tab) from Frame app on macOS or Ubuntu to the Frame session on a Windows workload has been fixed.
Limitations
- Capturing Cmd + Tab on macOS is not currently supported.
- Capturing Ctrl + Alt + Del on Windows is not currently supported.
USB Support
New Features
- Added USB device redirection support for Ubuntu.
Requirements: To grant access to USB devices from the Ubuntu endpoint, create a udev rule. Generate or update a file named60-frame-usb.rulesin/etc/udev/rules.d. For each device, include a line similar to the following example:Replace theSUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c626", MODE="0664", GROUP="plugdev"idVendorandidProductvalues with the actual hexadecimal values of the USB HID device.
Bug Fixes
- Resolved issues related to attaching and detaching devices.
Application and UI
New Features
- Reorganized menu items in the application menu bar to follow standard conventions: File, Edit, View...
- Users can now run only one instance of the Frame app. Attempts to open a second instance will bring the main window of the first instance to the forefront.
- Removed the misleading 'F11' shortcut hint from the 'Toggle Full Screen F11' menu item.
- Updated the application's installation directory from
C:\Program Files (x86)\FrametoC:\Program Files\Frame.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where FrameAppService fails to start during the installation of Frame app on fresh Windows 10/11 systems.
- Resolved a crash occurring on the first launch of the Frame App on macOS.
- Fixed a scenario where resizing the application window using the mouse cursor on Windows was not possible.
Known Issues
- Auto-updating macOS apps from versions prior to 7.1 is currently not functioning as expected. Customers are advised to uninstall older versions and download the latest version of the app. This issue is attributed to the transition of the Apple Developer Account from Nutanix to the Frame organization.
Engineering
- Improved dependency management between native node modules.
v7.0.31
v7.0.28
Frame App 7 – Tech Preview Increment 2 – build: 7.0.28
v7.0.27
Frame App 7 – Tech Preview Increment 1 – build: 7.0.27
-
Added Frame Platform logo and fixed About dialog with new company name and EULA
-
Upgraded to Electron framework version 25.1.0
-
Added administrator configurations on all platforms Win/Lin/Mac for: STARTUP_URL, CHECK_FOR_UPDATES_ON_STARTUP, ENABLE_CAMERA and ENABLE_MICROPHONE
-
Added command line arguments: --startup-url (string), --check-for-updates-on-startup (ON/OFF), --enable-camera (ON/OFF) and --enable-microphone (ON/OFF)
Example usage:
Frame.exe -- --startup-url="https://console.nutanix.com/" --check-for-updates-on-startup=off --enable-camera=on --enable-microphone=on
IMPORTANT NOTE: each command line arguments needs to have a value! This is different from Frame App 6. This was introduced so an administrator can also force an OFF value. -
Administrator configurations have higher precedence than command line arguments.
-
At the UX preferences dialog the end user can only change properties which are not specified neither by administrator not by command line startup arguments
-
Reset button on UX preferences dialog improved to reset values only at the dialog, so the end user can chose to Save such configuration or to Cancel the entire operation
