Release list
MovieBox Android 0.12.3: the ToonPlay provider
MovieBox Android 0.12.3 (versionCode 18).
Added
- ToonPlay provider — an anime and cartoon catalog: search, full details with seasons and episodes, and movie playback resolved to signed multi-audio HLS streams. Pick it from the provider switcher on the home screen. Series playback is reported as not yet supported.
- The engine moves to the v0.1.31 tag (the ToonPlay provider release of the shared Rust core).

MovieBox Android 0.12.2: quality memory and safe-drawing insets
MovieBox Android 0.12.2 (versionCode 17).
Added
- Quality memory — the resolution you pick is remembered for the session; a fresh details page starts on it when the title offers that resolution, and falls back to All when it does not.
Fixed
- Player: safe-drawing insets — the player now draws edge-to-edge and applies the status-bar and navigation-bar padding itself, so the top buttons can no longer sit under the status bar or a display cutout on any device.

MovieBox Android 0.12.1: history that resumes, and lets go
MovieBox Android 0.12.1 (versionCode 16).
Fixed
- History: resume — playing from the details screen now starts at your saved position (season/episode aware; completed titles start fresh) instead of always from the beginning.
- History: resume goes straight to playback — the history tab's Resume button and the home continue-watching cards now resolve the source and open the player at the saved point, instead of only opening the details screen.
- History: removable entries — every history row has a delete button; removal goes through the engine's history manager (new
nativeRemoveHistoryItembridge entry point) and updates the list instantly.

MovieBox Android 0.12.0: Flow-style player controls
MovieBox Android 0.12.0 (versionCode 15).
Player controls — the Flow-style set
- Lock mode: the padlock in the top bar hides every control and the system bars behind a touch shield. The first back press unlocks instead of leaving the player, and entering picture-in-picture releases the lock.
- Double-tap seek zones: double-tap the left or right third of the video to skip ten seconds; keep tapping to stack (+10s, +20s…) with a pill on the tapped side. The first tap reveals the controls instantly while hiding waits out the double-tap window, so a double-tap never flashes the controls.
- Center play/pause pulse: double-tap the center to toggle playback, and every play-state change pulses a center icon — whichever control caused it.
- Long-press speed boost: hold the video to double the speed; lift to restore. The gesture is explained on the playback settings page.
- Subtitle timing: subtitles render in-app with live ±0.25 s / ±0.5 s controls (clamped to ten seconds), applied against the playback clock so seeks and speed changes are picked up instantly.
- Sleep timer, audio tracks and the existing gestures remain available from the playback settings sheet.

MovieBox Android 0.11.1: downloads that survive
MovieBox Android 0.11.1 (versionCode 14).
Downloads
- Download records now survive process death, and resuming continues from the partial file.
- Android 10+ downloads stream directly into a pending MediaStore file and become visible when the transfer completes. No second full-size copy is made, so a film needs room for one copy rather than two.
- Completed downloads are finalized even when the Downloads tab is not open.
- MKV releases keep the .mkv name and MIME type, so file managers and external players see the published file.
- Low-space and MediaStore start failures are reported instead of falling back to an app-private copy. Removing an unfinished job removes its hidden pending row.
- Includes the 4KHDHub container-format fix and the MediaStore recovery races from the 0.11.1 line.
Assets
app-release.apk— signed, arm64-v8a and x86_64, versionCode 14.app-debug.apk— debug build with the Open URL hook.
In-place update over 0.11.0 works (same signing certificate).
MovieBox Android 0.11.0: themes and Omarchy palettes
MovieBox Android 0.11.0 (versionCode 13).
Themes
- A palette picker with the app's own six schemes and the 22 Omarchy palettes, each shown as a swatch drawn in its own colours. System keeps Material 3 dynamic colour; the choice is stored by the engine and applied at startup.
- The appearance sheet stays open while you compare palettes, so the app re-themes live behind it.
Feel
- Edge-to-edge layout with the status and navigation bars following the theme.
- Press feedback (spring + haptic) on the home cards and rows, the details episode rows and the Live TV channel rows.
- The launch surface follows the system light/dark mode; the player keeps a black launch surface.
Assets
app-release.apk— signed, arm64-v8a and x86_64, versionCode 13.app-debug.apk— debug build with the Open URL hook.
In-place update over 0.10.x works (same signing certificate).
MovieBox Android 0.10.1: 4KHDHub crash fix
MovieBox Android 0.10.1: 4KHDHub crash fix
The terminal client's engine behind a native Compose interface. No accounts, no telemetry: everything stays on the device.
What it does
- Fixed a crash when opening 4KHDHub titles from search, home decks and history.
- Browse MovieBox, 4KHDHub and Dramachi: home decks, search, details with seasons and episodes, and sources by resolution.
- Play in Media3 with CDN auth headers replayed, subtitles, playback speed, chapters, picture-in-picture and background playback.
- Keep the display awake while playback is active; play and pause controls respond to taps, and seeking is smoother.
- Pick the audio track on streams with several audio tracks in one file.
- Set a sleep timer for 5 to 60 minutes or the end of the episode.
- Live TV: add an M3U playlist by URL or file and watch its channels.
- Downloads with live progress and resume, even when a signed URL expires. Finished files appear in Movies/MovieBox and the gallery on Android 10 and newer; on Android 9 and below they stay in the app's own Movies folder.
- Favourites, watch history, continue watching and provider switching.
- Bengali, Hindi and Spanish interface, a colour scheme picker (including OLED black), layouts that adapt to tablets and large text.
- Settings → Copy diagnostic info when reporting a problem.
Install
app-release.apksupports arm64-v8a phones and x86_64 emulators, Android 7.0+ (minSdk 24).- Allow “install unknown apps” when prompted. Future versions update in place with the stable signing key.
- Users on 0.9.0 must install this version manually once; users on 0.9.1 and 0.10.0 can update in place.
app-debug.apkis attached for adb debugging and installs beside the release build because it now has the.debugpackage suffix.
Known limitations
- Bengali and Hindi translations have not had a native-speaker review yet; corrections are coming.
- The sleep timer stops if Android kills the app; it has no foreground service.
- On some devices, the player's top buttons can sit under the status bar; a fix is planned.
- Casting and the toonplay and cinejoy/flixer providers are not included.
