- Go to our transifex page
- Click the blue "Help translate MapSwipe app" button
- Signup or login and ask to join the project and the translation team for your language. You should get approved within a few hours, depending on your time zone.
- Once you have joined the translation team, transifex will display a list of strings from the app that need translating. Just type in your translation in the box provided, and save when you are happy with what you have.
- Continue translating as much as you want :)
- Sometimes it can be difficult to know where in the app the text you are seeing is shown. Look at the
Keyjust under your translation box. It normally has the formscreenName.stringName, so thescreenNamepart can help you understand where in the app it is used. If you are still confused, you can message an admin from within transifex for some more help. - You can also look at text that has already been translated, and improve parts that you think need changing.
- When your language reaches "100% translated", transifex will send your translations to the developers automatically, so your work can be integrated in the app.
- That's it!
- Some text looks like
Level {{level}}. The second part in{{ }}is a placeholder for a variable in the app. Do NOT translate it! For instance, in French, the correct translation of this string would beNiveau {{level}}. In the app,{{level}}will be replaced by your level value, to give something likeLevel 6. - Some of the strings have pairs of purple HTML markers with a number in them. Like above, these need to be kept in your translation and you usually should translate their content (unless the content is between braces
{{ }}like above). See this help page for more details on the HTML markers.
Follow the same process as for the app. When you request to be part of the translation team on transifex, you will be able to translate both the app and the website (it does not mean you have to do both!).
