Using the tool

Start it

Download the release zip, extract, and run Launch-SOA-Manager.bat. That removes the Mark of the Web and starts the script. Or run it directly:

.\SOA-Manager.ps1 # real connections
.\SOA-Manager.ps1 -Demo # sample data, nothing touches a tenant

Use -Demo first if you have never seen the interface.

Status badges

  • On-prem: managed in AD. Sync client pushes changes to the cloud.
  • Cloud: SOA moved to the cloud. Edit in Exchange Online or Entra.
  • Pending: rolled back to on-premises, but the next sync cycle has not run yet. Still editable in the cloud until the sync client takes over.

What shows up where

Mailboxes: only users with a mailbox in Exchange Online who are synced from AD.

Groups: only mail-enabled groups (distribution lists and mail-enabled security groups). Plain security groups do not appear because they belong to Entra management, not Exchange.

Contacts: organizational contacts synced from AD.

Files the tool writes

  • SOA-Manager_<timestamp>.log: session log
  • SOA-Backups\Backup_<type>_<timestamp>.json: pre-conversion snapshot
  • SOA-Exports\<tab>_<timestamp>.csv: view exports
