Swift string and buffer conveniences are now available alongside the low-level simdutf API:

  • Copy, validate, repair, and append UTF-8, UTF-16, and UTF-32 strings.
  • Borrow scoped contiguous UTF-16 and UTF-32 buffers.
  • Validate and copy ASCII, convert Latin-1, encode/decode Base64, and detect Unicode encodings.

Each API is gated by its required SwiftPM traits, and disabled native features remain compiled out. Swift 6.1 and older Apple deployment targets remain supported. Upstream simdutf is still pinned to v9.2.1; Dependabot now checks for submodule updates.

Verified with all 13 feature configurations, Swift 6.1 Linux and macOS CI, Address Sanitizer, and iOS Simulator Release builds.

Swift Package Manager bindings for simdutf v9.2.1.

  • 114 upstream C API functions plus four Unicode compatibility helpers, usable from Swift without C++ interoperability.
  • SwiftPM traits select UTF8, UTF16, UTF32, ASCII, Latin1, Base64, and DetectEncoding; disabled features and Swift APIs are compiled out.
  • UTF8 and UTF16 are enabled by default. The All trait enables every supported feature.
  • Ships pinned upstream source with architecture-specific SIMD dispatch and no unsafe compiler flags.
  • Requires Swift 6.1 or later.

Validated locally across 11 feature configurations, release tests, an iOS Simulator Xcode build, and AddressSanitizer/UndefinedBehaviorSanitizer checks. CI is configured for macOS and Linux with Swift 6.1; GitHub Actions runs are currently disabled by the Margelo organization policy.
