What changed

• Documentation opens the Neato Echo manual at https://echo.neatoventures.com/docs/ (64 pages covering dictation, meetings, notes, calendars, privacy, and fixes for common problems).
• Contact Support and Submit Bug open the support page at https://echo.neatoventures.com/support.html.
• The Join Discord entry is gone.

Includes everything from 1.0.4: meeting recordings use the same local Parakeet model as dictation, and calendar sign-in finishes on the Neato Echo website.

Upgrading

From 1.0.3 or 1.0.4, use the Update Available button in the sidebar. Otherwise download Neato-Echo-Setup-1.0.5.exe below and run it over your existing install.

Neato Echo 1.0.4

Two fixes from the first round of calendar and meeting testing.

What changed

• Meeting recordings use the same local speech model as dictation. Note Recording and Audio Upload previously defaulted to a Whisper model you had not downloaded, so the first meeting recording failed with "whisper model base not downloaded". They now use the Parakeet model that dictation setup already installed.
• Calendar sign-in finishes on the Neato Echo website. After approving Google or Microsoft calendar access, the browser now lands on echo.neatoventures.com instead of an OpenWhispr page asking to open a different app. The connection itself was already working.

Upgrading

From 1.0.3, use the Update Available button in the sidebar. From any earlier version, download Neato-Echo-Setup-1.0.4.exe below and run it over your existing install; settings, models, and notes are kept.

Neato Echo 1.0.3

Fixes the updater, and includes everything from 1.0.2.

What changed

• The in-app updater now reads only Neato Echo's own releases. Earlier builds could be offered an OpenWhispr installer because GitHub kept serving a stale release feed for the fork. From this version on, updates come from this repository's latest release and nothing else.
• Google Calendar and Microsoft (Outlook) calendar connections work (from 1.0.2). On Google you may see a one-time "unverified app" notice: choose Advanced, then Go to Neato Echo, until Google finishes verifying the app.
• Empty speech-model files are no longer mistaken for an installed model (from 1.0.2).

Installing this version

If you are on 1.0.0 or 1.0.1, do not use the in-app update button for this one; download Neato-Echo-Setup-1.0.3.exe below and run it over your existing install. Settings, models, and notes are kept. From 1.0.3 onward the in-app update works normally.

Calendar connections and a dictation-setup fix.

What changed

• Google Calendar and Microsoft (Outlook) calendar connections now work. Open Settings, connect a calendar, and approve read-only access in your browser. Upcoming meetings appear on Home and meeting notes take the meeting's title. On Google you may see a one-time "unverified app" notice: choose Advanced, then Go to Neato Echo, until Google finishes verifying the app.
• Empty speech-model files are no longer mistaken for an installed model. If a model download was interrupted, the app now offers the download again instead of failing at dictation time.

If you have 1.0.0 or 1.0.1, the sidebar offers this update. Otherwise download Neato-Echo-Setup-1.0.2.exe below.

Neato Echo 1.0.1

Setup screens rewritten in plain language after the first team install.

What changed

• Shortcut screen now asks "How should your shortcut work?" and explains Tap and Hold in one line each.
• Setup choice asks "Where should Neato Echo do its thinking?", marks On this PC as Recommended, and moves the API-key and self-hosted paths behind an Advanced link.
• Before the download, the dialog says what is being downloaded and why: one speech model and one summary model, then it works offline.
• Model screens are labeled Speech and Summaries, every model shows a short description, and the recommended one is marked at both stages: Parakeet TDT 0.6B for speech and Qwen3.5 4B for summaries.

Known limitation

Google and Microsoft calendar connections do not work yet in this build. They need Neato Echo's own OAuth app identities, which are being registered; a follow-up build will enable them.

Neato Echo 1.0.0

First Neato Echo build for the team. Windows 10 (2004+) / Windows 11, 64-bit.

What's in this build

• Local-first by default. No account, no sign-in, nothing uploaded. Dictation runs on your PC with NVIDIA Parakeet; meetings are captured from your speakers and mic and transcribed locally.
• Fast dictation. AI cleanup is off by default so text lands as soon as you release the key. Turn it on in Settings if you want polished prose.
• Meeting detection. Neato Echo notices meeting audio and Zoom, Teams and Webex, and offers to take notes.
• Summary presets. When a recording ends you can pick Team Meeting, Interview, Sales Call, One-on-one or Customer Support, or add your own. Presets are editable under Notes → Actions.
• Neato Ventures branding throughout: new icon, name and colors.

Installing

1. Download Neato-Echo-Setup-1.0.0.exe below and run it.
2. This build is not code-signed yet. If Windows SmartScreen appears, choose More info → Run anyway.
3. On first run, pick On your device and let it download the speech model (about 700 MB). Enable summaries to download a language model as well.
4. Hold Ctrl+Win and talk. Change the hotkey in Settings if you like.

Neato-Echo-Portable-1.0.0.exe runs without installing, for trying it out.
