Building and testing Add In

This document explains how to build and test an Excel Add-In for comnsense.

Work in Visual Studio

Solution for the add-in: comnsense/comnsense.sln.

Debugging

If you have a 2010 version of MS Office, you need to edit comnsense.csproj. Search for OfficeVersion and change Office version and path from 15.0 to 14.0:

<ProjectProperties HostName="Excel" HostPackage="{29A7B9D7-A7F1-4328-8EF0-6B2D1A56B2C1}" OfficeVersion="14.0" VstxVersion="4.0" ApplicationType="Excel" Language="cs" TemplatesPath="" DebugInfoExeName="#Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\InstallRoot\Path#excel.exe" DebugInfoCommandLine="/x" AddItemTemplatesGuid="{51063C3A-E220-4D12-8922-BDA915ACD783}" />

First time you build the solution nuget "restores" the packages listed in your packages\repositories.config file. It includes the dlls for the required libraries in the folder comnsense\packages\ZeroMQ.4.1.0.15\lib\net40\i386. Copy these over to i386 and amd64 folders in the root of the project and update the settings of files to "Copy if newer".

Building installation package

The installation package is generated with "Build -> Publish comnsense". This will create a folder called "Publish" that has a setup.exe file. Distribute this folder to a test machine and run it.
