Super Mario Bros is a platformer game. It was developed by Nintendo for the NES console and launched in 1985 in Japan , in 1986 in the United States, and finally in 1987 in Europe. Super Mario Bros is the successor to the arcade game Mario Bros, launched in 1983, and the first in the Sega Super Mario series. The director and producer of the game was Shigeru Miyamoto, who also worked as an artist on the game. The idea for Super Mario Bros emerged because Miyamoto wanted to create a colorful platformer game inspired by Pac-Land, an arcade game from 1984.
