v3.3.3 — Deutschpop Klassiker, Helpful Errors & a Tune-Up Round
A new 100-track community playlist of modern German pop, helpful errors when the playlist-request flow fails, recovery from transient HA hiccups during playback, a small visibility fix on the Playlist Hub, and routine URI maintenance across three existing playlists.
✨ What's New
Deutschpop Klassiker — community playlist debut
A 100-track playlist of modern German pop (2002–2019) joins the Community library, contributed via Beatify's community-playlist-request flow — the same path any host can submit through. Spans the canon: Wir sind Helden, Peter Fox, AnnenMayKantereit, Helene Fischer, Andreas Bourani, Mark Forster, Tim Bendzko, Juli, Sarah Connor, Silbermond, Wincent Weiss, Clueso, Herbert Grönemeyer and the rest. Comes with per-region Apple Music URIs across US/DE/GB/FR/ES/NL/IT, alt-artist hints for the artist-guess challenge, fun-facts in en/de/es/fr/nl, plus chart-position metadata for ~70 of the bigger hits.
Helpful errors when a playlist request fails
Adding a playlist used to show a single opaque message — "Failed to create request" — for every backend hiccup: bad URL, private playlist, backend offline, or just too many tries in a minute. Now you see what actually happened, in your language, so you know whether to fix the URL, wait a moment, or check the playlist's privacy setting.
Playlist Hub "Request a playlist" button is visible again
The cyan envelope FAB at the bottom of the Playlist Hub had an invisible icon for some users — the SVG stroke wasn't reliably inheriting its color in certain Safari/Webkit versions. Pinned the dark stroke directly on the SVG, regardless of CSS-variable inheritance.
Game keeps playing through transient HA state-machine errors
If hass.states.get() threw mid-playback — a rare but real edge case during HA restarts or state-machine reloads — Beatify used to abort the song play entirely. Now wrapped in two safe-read helpers that downgrade transient exceptions to "speaker state unknown, keep going". Closes the one xfailed test from v3.3.2.
Playlist requests reaching the backend again (infra)
For some hours on May 3rd, every Spotify playlist submission was failing because the backend's GitHub credentials had expired. Restored. Closes the symptom @Helloitsme spotted in discussion #834.
🔧 Under the Hood
12 dead streaming URIs refreshed across three existing playlists — 10 in top100-allertijden-nederlandstalig (#828), 1 each in eurovision-winners (#830) and greatest-hits-of-all-time (#833) · 4 new localized error messages across en/de/es/fr/nl · README "Built With AI Assistance" section adds the public talking points used in influencer outreach · internal-only docs (CLAUDE.md, DESIGN.md, docs/) untracked from the public repo · pytest 443 passed (was 442 + 1 xfailed in v3.3.2) · 35 vitest tests pass.

@Helloitsme — Reported the playlist-add failure in discussion #834 with a clean repro on a Spotify editorial URL, made the bisection trivial, and confirmed the fix worked in-the-wild — the second external Beatify confirmation this month.
