Home Assistant

ha-dashboard

With Mikonus, you can publish your home as an interactive 3D dashboard in Home Assistant.

You continue to create and edit your home in Mikonus. Home Assistant then displays the published scene as a dashboard card, including live device states and controls.

Install the Mikonus integration

To allow Home Assistant to receive published Mikonus scenes, you need the Mikonus integration for Home Assistant.

Add the Mikonus repository to HACS

The Mikonus integration is currently installed through its own HACS repository.

In Home Assistant, open:

HACS → Integrations

Then open the menu in the top-right corner and select:

Custom repositories

Add the Mikonus repository and select:

Integration

Repository:

https://github.com/mikonus-app/mikonus-home-assistant

Confirm by selecting Add.

Install Mikonus via HACS

After adding the repository, Mikonus Dashboard will appear in HACS.

Open the entry and install the latest version.

A restart of Home Assistant is required after installation.

Add the integration in Home Assistant

After restarting, open:

Settings → Devices & services

Select Add integration and search for:

Mikonus Dashboard

Add the integration.

No additional credentials are required for the integration setup itself.

Home Assistant is now ready to receive published Mikonus scenes.

Connect Home Assistant to Mikonus

In Mikonus, open:

Smart Home → Connections → Home Assistant

Add your Home Assistant instance and establish the connection.

Depending on your setup, you will need the address of your Home Assistant installation and the required authentication.

Once connected, Home Assistant entities can be used in Mikonus.

Assign devices

Once Home Assistant is connected, you can link Home Assistant entities to the matching objects in your Mikonus project.

The easiest way is:

  1. Open the Home view in Mikonus.
  2. Press and hold the 3D object you want to use.
  3. Select the device assignment option.
  4. Select Home Assistant as the provider.
  5. Select the matching entity.

For example, you can link a lamp in Mikonus to a light entity in Home Assistant.

The assignment is published together with your dashboard scene.

Publish your dashboard

Once your home and devices are ready, you can publish your scene directly to Home Assistant.

In Mikonus, open:

Smart Home → Dashboards → Home Assistant

Select Publish.

Mikonus transfers the dashboard scene and the required device assignments to Home Assistant.

Add the Mikonus card to your dashboard

After publishing, you can add the Mikonus card to a Home Assistant dashboard.

Open the dashboard you want to use and add a new card.

Select:

Mikonus 3D

You can then select the published scene.

If only one scene is available, it may be selected automatically.

Multiple scenes

Mikonus supports multiple published scenes in Home Assistant.

If more than one scene is available, you can choose which one should be displayed when configuring the Mikonus card.

This allows you to use separate scenes for different homes, areas or variants.

Control devices from the dashboard

Assigned Home Assistant devices appear directly at their positions in the floor plan.

Depending on the device type, you can:

  • turn lights on and off
  • adjust brightness and light color
  • control blinds and shutters
  • control thermostats
  • view sensor states
  • control locks
  • control robot vacuums

Tap a device to open the available information and controls.

Switch between 2D and 3D

The Mikonus card supports both a 3D view and a 2D floor-plan view.

Use the 2D / 3D switch directly in the card to switch between both views.

If your scene contains multiple floors, you can also switch between the available floors.

Customize the appearance

Depending on the version of the Mikonus card, you can configure different presentation options.

These can include:

  • camera settings
  • lighting and ambient brightness
  • shadows
  • floor switching
  • markers and overlays
  • additional presentation settings

These settings only affect how the scene is displayed in the dashboard. Your actual Mikonus project remains unchanged.

Publish changes

Your Mikonus project remains the central source for your home.

If you later make changes, for example:

  • rooms or walls
  • interior objects
  • device assignments
  • floors
  • smart-home objects

simply publish the scene to Home Assistant again.

The existing dashboard card will then use the updated version.

Manage scenes

Published Mikonus scenes can be managed in Home Assistant.

Depending on the current version of the integration, you can view, replace or remove published scenes.

Mikonus does not automatically change your local project when doing this.
