Chap 2.19.4
Chap 2.19.4
Fixed
- Mirror turns off when it closes — Closing the Mirror during its first
camera connection can no longer let the camera start again in the background.
Quickly reopening it also keeps the new preview running. - Quick Note saves what you see — Opening a note no longer rewrites it, and
rapid typing, deleting, or undoing cannot let an older save overwrite the
latest text or show Saved too early.
Changed
- Lighter screenshot scans — Chap filters files before reading their dates,
reducing work when the screenshot folder contains many other files. - Clearer Settings controls — Toolbar icons now have proper VoiceOver names
and actions. - Housekeeping — Removed unused design and website assets and brought the
guide, architecture, flow, and permission copy in line with current behavior.
Chap 2.19.3
Chap 2.19.3
Added
- Window sizes by shape — Size presets are now a grid of window-shape
thumbnails: a landscape row and a new portrait row with Sidebar, Tall,
Document, and Half. Hover a shape to see it in the preview, click to use it.
Focus left the list; items already using it keep the same size.
Changed
- Tidier launcher settings — Display, Follow Cursor, Reuse Existing Window,
and Size now sit together under Window, and the preview is a single box.
Inputs are shorter, and layouts follow the same look. - Screenshot folder moved — It now lives in Settings → Notch → Screenshots,
next to the shelf that uses it.
Fixed
- Settings tabs no longer overlap — Shrinking the Settings window stops
before the bottom tabs cover the ? and ⋯ buttons.
Chap 2.19.2
Chap 2.19.2
Added
- Find your screenshot folder — Settings → Tools → Screenshots shows which
folder the shelf reads. Change… opens the macOS Screenshot app; pick
Options → Other Location… to choose or make a folder, and Chap follows along.
Chap only reads that setting. If screenshots land on the Desktop, Chap lets
you know other images there join the shelf too. - A seal that wanders — During Cover Screens, the seal on your other
displays drifts slowly around the screen like a screensaver and bounces off
the edges. With Reduce Motion on, it stays put in the middle.
Changed
- Simpler Glass settings — System, Light, and Dark are now three icons, sized
and colored to match the rest of the Appearance section.
Chap 2.19.1
Chap 2.19.1
Changed
- A full notch from the start — New installs open with every slot filled:
Screenshots, Downloads, Apps, To-do, Keep Awake, and Launchers. The two
shelves start folded into icons beside the notch, so the dock opens tidy;
click an icon to unfold one. Your own layout stays as you set it. - Fresh screenshots show up too — Like Downloads, a folded Screenshots shelf
opens by itself when you open the notch within 10 minutes of a new
screenshot. Fold it again and it waits for the next one.
Chap 2.19.0
Chap 2.19.0
Added
- Fresh downloads show up — If you keep the Downloads shelf folded, it now
opens by itself when you open the notch within 10 minutes of a download, then
folds back the next time after that. Your folded setting stays as it is. Fold
it again and it waits for the next download. - Welcome back — When you lift Cover Screens, Chap greets you with
"Welcome back" for a moment in the middle of the screen.
Chap 2.18.0
Chap 2.18.0
Changed
- Tidier menu bar menu — Sites, Apps, and Finder now have small headings
instead of the same icon on every line, and apps show their own icons.
Cover Screens shows its ⌥ shortcut, and Quick Note is in the menu too, so you
can find it with the notch off. Layouts has one Edit Layouts… item that
opens Settings instead of two nested lists. The bottom of the menu is one
quiet group (Settings…, Q&A, Check for Updates…) above Quit Chap ⌘Q. - One name: Keep Awake — The notch slot that was called Focus, the menu's
Keep Mac Awake, and the pop-up now all say Keep Awake, so it's clear they
are the same session (and not macOS Focus). Your last choice on the dial
carries over. The slot is a little wider so the name fits, and its dial now
sits in the middle with even space above and below.
Chap 2.17.1
Chap 2.17.1
Changed
- Workspaces are now Layouts — The feature that saves and restores your
window arrangement is called Layouts everywhere: the notch tab, the status
menu (Layouts → Capture Layout…), and Settings. Nothing to redo: your saved
layouts and the last tab you picked carry over, and the file moves to
Layouts.jsonon first launch. The Workspace window size stays as it is. - Lighter Layouts tab — Layout icons are now the same size as the app icons
on the Apps tab and sit closer together, with a little more room between rows.
Long names are shortened; point at a tile to see the full name. Together with
the shorter tab name, this makes the Apps slot narrower. - Clearer headings — Settings → Notch → Layout is now Slots, and a
layout's display map is headed Preview, so neither is mistaken for the
feature.
Chap 2.17.0
Chap 2.17.0
Added
- Swipe between tabs — In the Launchers, Apps, and Focus slots, swipe left or
right with two fingers on the trackpad to switch tabs (Focus ↔ Timer too). Clicking still works, and now
the empty part of the title row switches too, so there's no tiny icon to aim
for. Settings still open only from the ›.
Chap 2.16.4
Chap 2.16.4
Changed
- Calmer empty To-do — An empty To-do slot now shows a quiet note and an
Add to-do button in the middle instead of one line at the top. Click anywhere
in it to start typing.
Chap 2.16.3
Chap 2.16.3
Fixed
- Even Sites and Finder lists — Sites and Finder rows now line up with the
To-do rows, with the same space above and below, instead of leaving a gap
at the bottom.
Changed
- To-do fits your words — The To-do slot widens to fit your longest item, up
to a point, and narrows when the list is short. It settles each time you open
the notch, so nothing shifts while you type. - Tidier app grid — Up to four apps sit in a 2 × 2 grid; five or six use
three columns. - Simpler pop-up — The Time's up and Keep Awake pop-ups show Chap right on
the card, without the blue box around it.
