Material Workbench v0.2.1 is a data-integrity patch release.
Fixed:
- Deleting a media-purpose category now affects only authoritative assets of the selected media type.
- Same-named categories and assignments in other media types remain intact.
- Configured mounted documents follow the same category lifecycle as other editable documents.
- Category deletion fails closed while the library is refreshing or when the catalogue cannot be validated.
- Untyped or ambiguous historical assignments are preserved rather than guessed.
Documentation:
- Added Product Vision, Roadmap, and Capability Status documents.
- Clarified that Premiere is the first guarded client boundary, not the product boundary; Blender, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut/Jianying, and first-class 3D assets remain exploration areas.
- Planned and exploring items are not shipped features.
Upgrade note:
- v0.2.1 prevents future cross-media logical-category loss but cannot infer assignments that may already have been cleared by v0.2.0. If you deleted a category that shared its name with another media type, inspect your automatic metadata backups.
- This bug did not move, rename, overwrite, or delete media files.
- The optional external Adobe host bridge remains unbundled.
Verification:
- GitHub Actions CI 31839795367 passed on Python 3.11 and 3.13.
- Public release suite: 555 Python tests, 10 Node bridge tests, and synthetic first-run smoke.
