Preview release for testing. Version 0.3.1 remains the stable release.

Download MK-Crossfader-0.4.0.pkg below for the universal macOS installer (Apple Silicon and Intel), containing the MIDI Control App, VST3 plug-in and setup guides. The installer is Developer ID signed, Apple notarised and stapled; macOS Gatekeeper assessment passed.

New in the MIDI Control App

  • Independent X, Y and Z absolute 7-bit MIDI CC inputs, with an input axis for each target.
  • Confirmed MIDI Learn and manual CC/channel entry, with duplicate-binding checks.
  • Optional dedicated Touch Gate with Hold or Return Value on release. A new touch waits for fresh values on every required axis.
  • Preset support for XYZ routing while keeping controller bindings local to the computer.
  • Clearer Edit/MIDI Learn buttons and corrected manual-editor initial values.
  • Preserved Single-input compatibility, startup pause and recovery controls.

The native app is 0.4.0, build 15. The VST3 is version-aligned to 0.4.0; its audio processing, identifiers and saved-state format are unchanged from 0.3.1.

Validation

All four GitHub CI jobs pass, including macOS app, macOS VST3, Windows x64 VST3 and public-history privacy checks. 120 Swift tests and all four VST3 test targets pass locally. The final signed VST3 passes host loading and pluginval strictness 10 on Apple Silicon and Intel through Rosetta. The reviewed changes produced no reportable security findings. Source/history, screenshot metadata and the exact installer payload passed privacy checks.

Testing limits

Controller message timing, factory profiles, a full physical-controller/DAW rehearsal and a browser-download installation on a clean Mac remain unverified for this version. Intel validation used Rosetta, not a separate Intel Mac. Windows remains source-only, with no Windows download.

Read the XYZ setup guide before enabling XYZ. Touch Gate requires a dedicated CC; silence or Z=0 does not imply release. This handles one logical touch, not MPE, multitouch or 14-bit input.

The combined installer requires macOS 14 or later. If the MIDI app is running, use Return & Pause while the destination host is open, then quit the app. Close all plug-in hosts before upgrading and rehearse your controller mappings and recovery workflow before live use.

Documentation correction — 4 October 2026

For Single input in 0.4.0, press MIDI Learn, move the control, check the detected channel/CC and confirm Use for X. Move the control again after confirmation and setup before enabling Active. Stable 0.3.1 learns automatically and has no confirmation button.

Use the corrected installation guide, Ableton guide and Maschine guide. The installation guide covers both system-wide and per-user VST3 copies, avoiding duplicate discovery and incomplete uninstall.

These online corrections supersede the corresponding instructions bundled with this installer. The installer, checksum, version tag and binaries are unchanged.
