Encodings in the Lister (F3)

  • Keys: 8 UTF-8, U UTF-16, A Windows-1251, S DOS (866), K KOI8-R. They work on any keyboard layout.
  • The text's context menu starts with Encoding. It lists all of these, plus Automatically, Mac Cyrillic, ISO-8859-5, Windows-1252 and Latin-1.
  • The window title shows the encoding of the text, including one chosen automatically.
  • An encoding you choose is kept for the next and previous files (N/P).
  • When the encoding changes, the same line stays at the top.
  • In hex or Quick Look, an encoding key shows the file as text.

UTF-16 files open as text

  • UTF-16 files, often exported from Windows, are recognized with or without a byte order mark. Before, they opened as hex.
  • Compare by Content reads them too.
  • A large UTF-8 file cut at the Lister's 32 MB limit stays UTF-8.

brew install --cask mmag/tap/oricmd

Or download OriCmd-0.9b.dmg below (macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel). To update from an earlier version, choose OriCmd → Check for Updates….

The app is ad-hoc signed, without an Apple certificate. On the first launch, right-click OriCmd and choose Open.

Кодировки в просмотрщике (F3)

  • Клавиши: 8 UTF-8, U UTF-16, A Windows-1251, S DOS (866), K KOI8-R. Они работают в любой раскладке.
  • Контекстное меню текста начинается с подменю «Кодировка». В нём все эти кодировки, а также «Автоматически», Mac Cyrillic, ISO-8859-5, Windows-1252 и Latin-1.
  • В заголовке окна видна кодировка текста, в том числе выбранная автоматически.
  • Выбранная кодировка сохраняется для следующего и предыдущего файлов (N/P).
  • При смене кодировки вверху остаётся та же строка.
  • В hex или Quick Look клавиша кодировки показывает файл как текст.

Файлы в UTF-16 открываются как текст

  • Файлы в UTF-16, часто выгруженные из Windows, распознаются с меткой порядка байтов и без неё. Раньше они открывались в hex.
  • «Сравнить по содержимому» тоже правильно их читает.
  • Большой файл в UTF-8, обрезанный на пределе просмотрщика в 32 МБ, остаётся в UTF-8.

Или скачайте OriCmd-0.9b.dmg ниже (macOS 14 и новее, Apple Silicon и Intel). Чтобы обновить прежнюю версию, выберите OriCmd → «Проверить обновления…».

Приложение подписано ad-hoc, без сертификата Apple. При первом запуске щёлкните OriCmd правой кнопкой и выберите «Открыть».
