Release list
vivePDF 0.4.0
vivePDF 0.4.0 runs on the Mac, opens Word, Excel and PowerPoint files straight from Open With, and lets you drag tabs out into their own windows. Every file still stays on your machine.
Windows 10/11 (64-bit): download vivePDF_0.4.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it, or let vivePDF update itself. The installer carries LibreOffice, so Office conversions work right after setup without a download. The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC" once: click More info -> Run anyway.
macOS 14 Sonoma or later (Apple silicon): download vivePDF_0.4.0_aarch64.dmg below, open it and drag vivePDF to Applications, or let vivePDF 0.3.0 update itself. The app is not notarised by Apple, so Gatekeeper blocks the first start: open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the vivePDF message, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/vivePDF.app.
Highlights:
- Word, Excel and PowerPoint files open straight in vivePDF as PDFs, also from Open With in Finder and Explorer; when LibreOffice is missing, vivePDF offers to set it up and opens the file once it is ready
- Tabs work like a browser's: drag a tab or a whole tab group out to open it in its own window where you drop it, or onto another vivePDF window to move it there
- vivePDF runs on the Mac: full screen keeps the window buttons beside the logo, Command shortcuts and the menu bar work the macOS way, trackpad pinch zooms smoothly, and updates arrive inside the app
- The black and white presentation boards have a toolbar with pen, highlighter, shapes and eraser, pick several drawings at once and undo up to 100 steps
- Smoother and lighter: scrolling a PDF no longer stutters, typing stays quick in long Studio documents, and page previews no longer wait for each other
Known issue: in Edit, after inserting an item (for example a question) and then a second one (for example its answer key), the first item's floating toolbar stays on screen, and a click on that toolbar does not place the second item. Click on a free spot of the page instead.
Linux builds will follow. Full list of changes: CHANGELOG.md.
vivePDF 0.3.0
vivePDF 0.3.0 brings offline help, a one-switch offline mode, a two-screen presenter view and Word-style writing tools in Studio documents. Every file still stays on your machine.
Windows 10/11 (64-bit): download vivePDF_0.3.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it, or let vivePDF update itself. The new installer carries LibreOffice, so Office conversions work right after setup without a download. The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC" once: click More info -> Run anyway.
Highlights:
- Help that works offline: F1 shows the shortcuts of the screen you are on (and saves them as a PDF), Help > Help topics explains the main tasks step by step (Shift+F1 opens the topic for the current screen), and Help > What's new lists the highlights of each version
- Bug reports can carry pictures and sample files in a support package you save yourself; Help > Save support bundle collects diagnostics and logs
- Offline mode: one switch in Settings > Web turns off every feature that would use the internet: updates, downloads, web search, citation lookups and the leaked-password check
- Presenter view: the projector shows only the slides while your laptop shows the next page, a timer and speaker notes; single-screen presentations can show the notes too (N)
- Presentations can insert formulas, shapes, charts, tables and diagrams on the fly, also on the black and white boards, and measure lines show their length there
- Studio documents learned Word-style writing tools: footnotes, columns and section breaks, find and replace, line spacing, symbols, word count and Markdown export
macOS and Linux builds will follow. Full list of changes: CHANGELOG.md.
vivePDF 0.2.0

Windows 10/11 (64-bit): download vivePDF_0.2.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it, or let vivePDF update itself. The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC" once: click More info -> Run anyway.

- CV builder: import an existing CV or LinkedIn PDF, save and open CVs as
.json, undo and redo, month/year pickers, paste a list of skills at once, photo cropping, long entries flow onto the next page - 14 CV designs: the ten earlier ones refined with contact icons and new skill bars, plus Executive, Academic, Designer and Infographic
- Steadier Studio controls: Esc restores a field, arrows step from what you typed, aspect-ratio lock, millimetre nudging
- Page organizer: drag pages out to File Explorer or onto another tab, save pages as pictures, print, overwrite the original, select by orientation, size or text, reverse, copy pages
- Viewer: fill in form fields, rotate and delete pages from the thumbnails, edit the outline, copy and paste text blocks and pictures between documents, highlight from the selection bar, split view with another document, reload when the file changes on disk
macOS and Linux builds will follow. Full list of changes: CHANGELOG.md.
