Spellforce Spell Framework 3.0.0-alpha Release Notes
Pre-releaseOverview
The SFSF is a project designed to assist developers in creating new spell types for the game Spellforce 1. With this release, users can register new spell types and overwrite existing ones, although full customization of spell logic is not yet supported.
Key Features
- Ability to create new spell types and spell effects.
- Option to overwrite existing spell types and spell effects.
- Provides a framework for spell type and spell effect registration.
Important Notes
- Limited Functionality: This release only supports the creation of new spell types and effects. Full customization of spell logic is limited, but the foundation for further functions is in place.
- Testing Status: All player spells have been tested to be functional. NPC Spells have NOT been confirmed working. The basic Spell Effect Handlers that the player has access to in the early game have been tested, but further testing is needed.
- Bug Reports: Your feedback and bug reports are highly appreciated to improve the framework. Please submit any issues or bugs through the issue tracker on GitHub.
Update Notes
- Refactor of API Functions: How you access the API for creating mods using SFSF has been changed, check the TestMod.cpp file for an example.
- Access to CGdFigure now available: This allows manipulation of 'Figures' the games term for units/player/enemies etc.
Next Steps
Testing and Feedback:
We encourage users to test the framework thoroughly and provide feedback on their experience.
Gamedata.cff Issues:
Something that is a major obstacle for spellforce 1 modding, is that the gamedata.cff file must be modified to ensure additional content added by mods is available in the game, has the text data, models, textures and other such things referenced correctly; Something that SFSF wants to accomplish is to allow mod authors to implement these references in their Mod.cpp file.
This issue is a major undertaking and our team isn't 100% sure if it's possible in clean and neat manner, more information on the progress of this undertaking will be available in further updates.
Contributions:
