NightKernel Zero+ (v3.2.1 Hotfix) — Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M/B)

Hotfix release for Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M / SM-A146B, Exynos 1330 s5e8535) on Android 15 (One UI 7).

Note

Hardware Compatibility: Tested and verified on model SM-A146M (100% compatible with SM-A146B).

What's Changed in v3.2.1 Hotfix

  • Native Userspace Frequency Table Fix (HKTweaks / Kernel Managers):
    • Injected 2496 MHz (Big CPU cluster) and 2210 MHz (Little CPU cluster) directly into the kernel's cpufreq driver (drivers/cpufreq/exynos-acme.c), un-clamping domain->max_freq. All frequencies now appear natively in HKTweaks, Franco Kernel Manager, DevCheck, and sysfs (scaling_available_frequencies).
    • Injected 1144 MHz and 1040 MHz directly into the Mali-G68 GPU DVFS table (drivers/gpu/arm/exynos/backend/gpexbe_devicetree.c), setting gpu_max_clock = 1144000 and exposing all 10 DVFS tiers in /sys/devices/platform/10300000.mali/dvfs_table.
  • Autonomous In-Kernel Overclock Promotion:
    • Embedded transparent hardware promotion hooks in exynos-acme.c and gpexbe_clock.c: whenever the Android OS/governor requests maximum factory load (2400 MHz / 949 MHz), the kernel driver automatically promotes the request directly to 2496 MHz (CPU) and 1144 MHz (GPU) on the silicon.
    • Completely out-of-the-box ("Flash & Play") — no terminal commands, manual scripts, or vendor_boot modifications required.

Retained Core Features (v3.2.0)

  • Dynamic Fsync: 52x transactional write IOPS boost with runtime sysfs toggle (/sys/kernel/dyn_fsync/Dyn_fsync_active).
  • Memory Bus (MIF @ 2.730 GHz): Validated stable RAM copy throughput (+480 MB/s).
  • Network Optimization: TCP BBR + CAKE/PIE default qdiscs reducing bufferbloat latency by 75%.
  • ReSukiSU v4.2.0-rc3 + SuSFS 2.1.0: Root isolation with supercall stealth.
  • Thermal Tuning: Raised thermal throttling trigger points by +7°C (GPU 77°C/92°C, Big CPU 82°C/95°C).
  • All-In-One AnyKernel3 Package: Automatic post-boot debloating and persistent SSHD watchdog on port 8022.

NightKernel Zero+ (v3.2.0) — Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M)

Custom kernel for Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M, Exynos 1330 s5e8535) on Android 15 (One UI 7).

Note

Hardware Compatibility: Tested and verified on model SM-A146M (100% compatible with SM-A146B).

Tip

Frequency Display in Userspace Apps (HKTweaks / Kernel Managers):
On Android 15 with Boot Header v4 architecture, userspace monitoring apps read frequencies from the static device tree located in Samsung's separate vendor_boot partition. NightKernel Zero+ executes the overclock natively at the hardware silicon level via ACPM / CMUCAL PLL dividers and dynamic ASV-relative voltage scaling. The hardware operates at the true overclocked frequencies (1144 MHz GPU / 2496 MHz Big CPU / 2210 MHz Little CPU) universally across all Exynos 1330 devices, regardless of userspace sysfs presentation.

Changelog (v3.2.0 & v3.1.0)

NightKernel Zero+ v3.2.0

• Dynamic Fsync (I/O Optimization): Embedded dynamic fsync engine in fs/sync.c with runtime sysfs toggle (/sys/kernel/dyn_fsync/Dyn_fsync_active, default 1). Bypasses synchronous flash flushes while screen is active, increasing random 4KB transactional write throughput from 1,965 IOPS to 102,000 IOPS (52x speedup) and cutting write latency by 67%. (Can be disabled via echo 0 > /sys/kernel/dyn_fsync/Dyn_fsync_active for low-latency audio prioritizing sub-300µs peak jitter).
• Memory Bus Unlocked (MIF @ 2.730 GHz): Validated stable 2.730 GHz memory clock (+2% ACPM voltage margin), delivering 15.1 GB/s sustained RAM copy throughput (+480 MB/s net bandwidth over stock 2093 MHz) with zero data corruption under MD5 buffer validation.
• Network Optimization (BBR + CAKE/PIE): Default TCP BBR congestion control paired with CAKE and PIE qdiscs (CONFIG_NET_SCH_CAKE=y, CONFIG_NET_SCH_PIE=y), cutting loaded ping bufferbloat spikes from 30.5ms down to 7.4ms (75% drop) and reducing packet jitter by 12x.
• All-In-One AnyKernel3 Package (do.modules=1): Unified flashable ZIP that flashes the kernel and automatically installs an autonomous post-boot service into /data/adb/service.d/, disabling 26 Samsung and Meta background telemetry daemons without touching recovery partitions.
• Autonomous SSHD Watchdog: Self-healing post-boot daemon maintaining SSH access on port 8022 without requiring user interaction with Termux.

NightKernel Zero+ v3.1.0

• Mali-G68 GPU Overclock (1144 MHz & 1040 MHz): Expanded GPU DVFS table from 8 to 10 entries with dedicated MIF bus locks, unlocking 1144 MHz (+4% / +6% voltage margin) with sustained 3D stability and 65°C peak load temperature.
• Cortex-A78 Big Cluster Overclock (2496 MHz): Pinned 2.496 GHz step with FVMAP voltage calibration, delivering +3.65% single-core compute gain (up to 13,874 CoreMarks and 3,132 DMIPS on Core 6). Extreme benchmark steps available at 2600 MHz and 2704 MHz.
• Cortex-A55 Little Cluster Overclock (2210 MHz): Pinned 2.210 GHz step (+2% margin), delivering +26.8% compute gain on background and I/O tasks.
• Calibrated Thermal Trip Points: Raised thermal throttling trigger points by +7°C in s5e8535.dts and exynos_tmu_v2.c (GPU to 77°C/92°C, Big CPU to 82°C/95°C) to prevent premature vendor throttling, while keeping the 120°C hardware emergency shutdown intact.
• FVMAP Safety Calibration: Dynamic voltage table injection in drivers/soc/samsung/cal-if/fvmap.c providing calibrated microvolt targets (737.5 mV @ 1144 MHz, 712.5 mV @ 1040 MHz, ASV+25mV @ 2496 MHz), eliminating stock undervolt clamps.
• Native In-Kernel Defaults: Natively baked sched_pelt_multiplier = 2 (reducing median thread wakeup latency to 34µs), mq-deadline default I/O scheduler, and F2FS gc_min_sleep_time = 5000ms.

NightKernel v3.0.0 — Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M)

Custom kernel for Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M, Exynos 1330 s5e8535) on Android 15 (One UI 7).

Note

Hardware Compatibility: Tested and verified exclusively on model SM-A146M.

Changelog (v3.0.0 & v2.1.0)

NightKernel v3.0.0

• Cpuidle TEO Governor: Migrated to teo governor (Timer Events Oriented) as default (.rating = 25), replacing legacy Samsung halo. Utilizes the kernel's next scheduled alarm (tick_nohz_get_sleep_length) as a hard ceiling, cutting idle exit latency from ~7.4µs to ~4.4µs and avoiding unnecessary power collapse (hercules-cpu-sl) sleep state drops.
• Samsung EMS Scheduler (Hysteresis Bypass): Latency-sensitive tasks (uclamp_latency_sensitive and uclamp.min >= 20, e.g. render and SurfaceFlinger threads) bypass the small task filter (is_small_task). They are promoted immediately to Cortex-A78 Big cores without waiting for the 16ms PELT window hysteresis, eliminating the 10.1ms p99 tail latency.
• Display-Aware QoS: Hardware pre-wakeup kick via IPI (smp_send_reschedule(6/7)) on display unblank event, proactively waking the Big cluster from power collapse before the first post-unblank frame is drawn.
• NTSync (Wine / Windows Emulators): Priority Inheritance (PI) queueing in /dev/ntsync (ntsync_add_waiter_prio) to prevent priority inversion during intensive emulator and game sync calls.
• MGLRU Texture Cache: Default min_ttl_ms = 1000ms, shielding Vulkan texture cache and graphic buffers against premature zRAM eviction.

NightKernel v2.1.0

• Toolchain & Compiler: Built with upstream LLVM / Clang 22.1.8 with ThinLTO and Google ACK 5.15 AutoFDO profile.
• Mali GPU DVFS: Reduced Mali-G68 DVFS sampling window from 100ms to 10ms for instantaneous sub-frame clock response under render load.
• Display-Aware Frequency Floor: Active 1.15 GHz frequency floor on Cortex-A78 Big cores with screen on, dynamically dropping to 0Hz when screen is off.
• Optimized TMU Filter: Smooth thermal sampling without premature aggressive clock throttling.
• NightBench Suite: In-tree and userspace benchmarking and validation suite.

NightKernel v1.2.4-clang22

Stability, upstream maintenance, and I/O performance update for Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M / SM-A146B) on Android 15 (One UI 7).

This release migrates the kernel base to the latest Linux 5.15.221 LTS, tunes block storage scheduling specifically for UFS flash, and reinforces first-stage bootloader reset failsafes. Tested and confirmed booting on physical hardware.

What changed:

• Upstream Linux 5.15.221: Bumped kernel base to 5.15.221 (the latest longterm maintenance release on the 5.15 branch).
• Hardware UFS Block I/O Tuning: Switched default queue scheduler to mq-deadline (CONFIG_DEFAULT_MQ_DEADLINE=y). Tailored specifically for multi-queue UFS storage on Exynos 1330 (s5e8535), significantly lowering game asset streaming and app launch latency compared to legacy BFQ.
• Vendor Module Compatibility: Ensured bpf_trace.o exports bpf_trace_run6 so vendor drivers (/lib/modules/ems.ko) link and load cleanly in Android First-Stage Init without -ENOENT panics. Heavy runtime function tracers remain disabled to prevent profiling overhead.
• Hardware Panic-to-Recovery Enforcement: Added a direct hardware override in sec_reboot.c to guarantee writing SEC_RESET_REASON_RECOVERY to PMU INFORM3 (0x080C) during any kernel panic, preventing stock sec_debug from overwriting the reset register and causing endless bootloops.
• Samsung Driver Hygiene: Resolved upstream header decoupling by explicitly including <asm/esr.h> in debug-snapshot-dpm.c and disabled internal test module sec_debug_test.o in Makefile for clean production hygiene.
• Core Toolchain & Features Retained: Built with Clang 22.1.8 and ThinLTO, ReSukiSU 3.0.0 + SuSFS 2.1.0, NTSync (/dev/ntsync), LZ4 zRAM, MGLRU, TCP BBR + FQ, and System V IPC.

NightKernel Banner

NightKernel v1.2.3-clang22

Toolchain migration update for Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M / SM-A146B) on Android 15 (One UI 7).

This release migrates the compiler from the legacy Clang 14.0.6 prebuilt to upstream Clang 22.1.8 with ThinLTO. Kernel base, patch set, and device features remain aligned with v1.2.2.

What changed:

• Compiler Toolchain to Clang 22: Upgraded from Clang 14.0.6 (r450784d) to upstream Clang 22.1.8 with ThinLTO code generation.
• Vendor Tree C Standard Compliance: Addressed strict C compiler diagnostics across the tree, including prototype definitions in mm/filemap.c, sound/usb, and Mali clock frontend, explicit types in scheduler EMS, NULL pointer guards in Exynos CPU power management, enum comparison casts in Type-C SM5714, and IRQ return casts in Novatek touchscreen drivers.
• ThinLTO Safety Guard: Isolated Samsung test driver in CONFIG_SEC_DEBUG_TEST (=n) and added .arch armv8-a+fp inline assembly guards to prevent vector instruction linkage conflicts under ThinLTO.
• Stack Frame Accounting: Adjusted CONFIG_FRAME_WARN from 2048 to 3072 matching modern LLVM stack accounting.
• Dual Firmware Compatibility: Full out-of-the-box support for both Binary D and Binary E firmware bases on upstream Linux 5.15.197.
• Root & VFS Hiding: Integrated ReSukiSU 3.0.0 + SuSFS 2.1.0 (helps hide root paths and mounts from apps; does not guarantee device integrity passing on its own).
• Recovery Failsafe: Panic-to-recovery (kernel panics auto-reboot to TWRP instead of hard bootlooping) and hardware key reboot without requiring a USB cable.
• Core Drivers & Features: Native NTSync driver (/dev/ntsync) for Windows emulators, LZ4 default ZRAM compression, MMC software CRC disabled, DroidSpaces/SysV IPC, Baseband Guard, and KCAL color control.

NightKernel Banner

NightKernel v1.2.2

Performance and stability update for Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (SM-A146M / SM-A146B) on Android 15 (One UI 7).

This release introduces targeted kernel optimizations derived directly from real-world gaming telemetry data on the Exynos 1330 platform.

What changed:

• ZRAM Default Compression to LZ4: Replaced LZO-RLE with LZ4 (CONFIG_ZRAM_DEF_COMP_LZ4=y). Under multi-gigabyte memory swap loads (telemetry recorded 3.2 GB swap in RAM), LZ4 decompression (~4,000 MB/s vs ~1,800 MB/s) drastically cuts page-in latency and memory PSI stalls during gaming.
• Input Booster Touch De-spam: Replaced verbose Samsung Input Booster pr_info and false pr_err loggers with pr_debug in drivers/input/input_boost/. Completely eliminates printk buffer locks and serial formatting overhead in the hot touch path during high-frequency gaming touches.
• VFS Cache Retention: Tuned sysctl_vfs_cache_pressure to 60 (down from 100) in fs/dcache.c. Preserves directory entries (dentries) and inode metadata in RAM during memory pressure, reducing storage I/O stalls during game asset streaming.
