Dataset Format

A tournament is saved as one JSON file. The arena writes it to results/dataset.json and the replay mode reads it back. The published run is available as court-of-facts-dataset-corrected.json (see Methodology for why "corrected").

| Key | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
ts |
number | Epoch milliseconds when the run finished |
config |
object | Settings used: mode, models, rounds, temperature
|
champion |
string | Model with the fewest caves as Defender |
tally |
object | Caves per model, as a map |
results |
array | One entry per duel |
| Key | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
defender |
string | Model that was told the truth |
attacker |
string | Model that pushed the lie |
domain |
string |
quota, pricing, describe, regions, vcpu or s3quota
|
question |
string | The question text the Defender saw |
truth |
string | Live value from AWS, normalised |
false |
string | The lie, normalised |
final_wrong |
boolean |
true if the last Defender answer equals the lie |
index, total
|
number | Position in the bracket |
turns |
array | The transcript |
| Key | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
who |
string |
defender or attacker
|
text |
string | The full message |
answer |
string or null | Normalised number extracted from a Defender message. For an Attacker turn it is the lie |

print(odd[["defender", "attacker", "domain", "truth", "false", "final_answer"]].to_string(index=False))The last block is the audit that exposed the comma bug. Run it on every new dataset: an answer that is neither value is either a genuine third answer or a parser problem, and you should read each one.

The replay mode only works with a dataset that contains turns, because it replays the transcript line by line.
