A very condensed list of changes since 4.2.1:

Upgraded: Pyro4 support removed and upgraded to full native Pyro5.
Fix #1342: Project backup file never overwritten on save.
FIX #1310: SimpleDrums plays samples with more than 2 channels slowed and pitched down.
FIX #1102: Mangled wave file paths in .med when project dir is a symlink.

Fix #1313 for rack plugins and LV2 synths: Settings not saved or reloaded correctly.
Fix #1302: Wave editor issues, split parts, external editor, sometimes crashes.
Fixed crashes with external wave editing.
Fix #1307: Utf8 names not stored correctly.
Fix #1299: Regression vst controls/presets. And several other vst issues.
Spring 2025 large fixes and features:

Effect rack plugins: Persistent plugins (if plugins are missing) now added.
Effect rack plugins: Fixed drag and drop. Both drag move and copy work now.
All effect rack operations (adding/removing/moving/drag etc.) are now undoable/redoable.
Mixer: Added Undo and Redo menu items to mixer 'View' menu.
Effect/synth plugins: Fixed name vs. label issues. Made consistent in both.
DSSI plugins: Major rewrite of OSC support.
Effect/synth plugins: Fixed: Editing track name does not change titlebars in UI windows.
VST: Some VSTs were not saving or updating our mirrors of control values when controls changed.
VST: Fixed crashes with open native VST UIs when exiting app.
VST: Fixed VST native window open state not updated when closed, menu item still said open.
Effect/synth plugins: Other major rewrites and changes.
Translations: Fixed several problems with updating translation files (*.ts)

Arranger: Fixed loading song with mixer strip disabled. Blank splitter was still appearing.
Fixed: Midi strip 'LCD' seven-segment patch number readouts not mouse-wheeling properly.
Merge PR 1293: Force the use of in-window menu.
Fix #1287: Focus doesn't return to arranger window when pianoroll closed.
Event List Editor: Fixed cannot open multiple parts.
Fixed Roland INTEGRA-7.idf file XML errors.
Track list context menu audio controller 'midi assign': Fixed cannot assign to song.
Added instrument file for the Roland INTEGRA-7 sound module
Fix #1104: Fixed update of UI element for globalPitchShift upon loading song
