MeshCore DeskOS D1L 1.9.2
MeshCore DeskOS D1L 1.9.2
DeskOS 1.9.2 keeps the touchscreen responsive while packet history filters and searches read the SD card. Pages contain up to 12 rows; a + after the range means older matches are available. Changing the search, pausing or leaving Packets cancels the old scan. Card/read failures show a retry message rather than an empty result.
Previously, a filtered page could scan the entire archive to count matches on the touchscreen task. Searches now run in a background worker and stop after the page plus one lookahead match. Native checks verify bounded reads, superseded requests, cancellation, memory allocation failure and stale-result rejection after history clears or card changes.
Installation
Choose Update DeskOS in the Canadaverse flasher to preserve an existing DeskOS identity, contacts, settings and SD data. The complete ZIP includes both ESP32 installation paths, the paired production RP2040 bridge, signed SD update, checksums and instructions. The signed-SD ZIP uses deskos/updates/ paths. Firmware never formats the card.
Storage formats, Bluetooth commands, the signed updater and RP2040 firmware are unchanged from 1.9.1. Use the paired bridge included in the package.
Verification
Exact source: bfad4b4a31ebb6575445da5dd5565d3bc588e7f1.
Actions run 37860143532: 2,641 host tests passed with seven platform skips. The same source compiled on the Pi with ESP-IDF 5.5.4 using one compiler job and a 768 MiB memory limit; eight focused native/contract checks passed there.
All five Actions jobs passed. The exact signed package and all component checksums were verified before a preserving USB installation on the D1L. Its identity, all 64 contacts, original settings and eight saved DM rows were retained; the production flasher verified the exact image, radio, bridge and SD readiness over one USB connection. The user confirmed that Text filtering and returning Home respond promptly, and the device remained on the same boot.
Windows Bluetooth passed an encrypted, authenticated, bonded connection with MTU 517, contact synchronization, shared contact-policy restoration, Public radio transmission, two matching DM confirmations (14.04 and 12.96 seconds) and self telemetry. Bluetooth-worker stack headroom was 7,988 bytes. Original settings were restored. All eight SD-backed stores reported zero read, write or rename failures. The private recovery copy and previous 1.9.1 package remain available.
Scope and limits
The phone is not used for this release. Windows Bluetooth tests exercise the actual companion protocol and device; they do not represent a final official Android or iOS app retest. A new physical signed-SD installation is not claimed. Earlier physical signed-SD installation and rollback are documented with 1.8.0.
The parity limits continue to apply. Rare/no-match searches can still take time on SD. Delivery confirmation waits for the acknowledgement to be saved. Remote telemetry and TRACE depend on the peer and route and are not requalified here. Additional languages/layouts, optional sensors, structured replies and the wider WadaMesh application suite remain future work.
