The first release of BookmarkUp - open any bookmark in a new tab with a single left click, without losing your place in the tab you're on.

Why

Left-clicking a bookmark normally replaces your current page, losing your scroll position or anything you'd typed. BookmarkUp makes a plain left click open the bookmark in a new tab and leaves your
current tab untouched - no reload, no flicker, unsaved text preserved. Built for laptops and touchpads, where middle-click and Ctrl+click are awkward.

Features

  • Left-click a bookmark on the bar → new tab, and your current tab doesn't budge
  • Middle-click still works exactly as before
  • Toolbar popup with a searchable list of all your bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+U)
  • Background mode to open several bookmarks at once
  • Search + keyboard navigation (type to filter, arrows to move, Enter to open)
  • Light & dark themes, following your system

Install (Developer Mode - until it's on the Chrome Web Store)

  1. Download BookmarkUp-1.0.0.zip below and unzip it.
  2. Open chrome://extensions (or brave://extensions).
  3. Turn on Developer mode (top-right).
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder (the one containing manifest.json).
  5. Pin BookmarkUp and start left-clicking your bookmarks.

Works in Chrome, Brave, and other Chromium browsers (version 116+).
