v0.1.7 — mobile, media and workspace fixes
Novum Xenium is an improvement fork of Odysseus. Upstream attribution and licenses remain included.
- Reopening active chats restores current reasoning in its own live, collapsible panel, with working keyboard controls and the saved hide-thinking preference.
- Recoverable inactive-tab interruptions use a neutral, accessible status rather than red failure text.
- Mobile composer controls share the correct touch height, keeping Agent/Chat labels centered. Older chats are included after server restarts instead of stopping at the first 100.
- Media has explicit fullscreen, retry and original-link controls. Streaming and reopening preserve existing players; Workspace includes a Media tab and a resizable desktop panel.
- Browser and desktop preview captures have private seven-day history. Previously discarded screenshots cannot be recovered; remote media itself is not cached for a week.
- Persona controls and model throughput labels are clearer. Managed model defaults use 32,768 tokens and retain zVram settings.
- Linux desktop includes an authenticated local alarm bridge with bounded playback and volume restoration. No alarm is armed by installing this update.
- Android supports native video fullscreen with Back navigation. Self-hosted notifications remain optional, with no Firebase or external push account.
Install the Android APK over the existing app to retain its data. Backend and web changes require the updated server checkout; updating a companion app alone does not update a running backend.
Validation: Linux and Windows desktop build/test CI passed. Android build, unit tests and lint passed; the signed APK matches the existing certificate, has version code 6, and passes v2/v3 signatures and 16 KB alignment checks. Asset checksums and the Hub manifest were verified. Full server CI passed, including Python tests and Python/JavaScript syntax checks; the final Trivy image scan also passed. Headless browser checks cover phone widths, landscape, larger labels, reopening active reasoning, keyboard controls and preserved media. Native video fullscreen was exercised in an isolated Android emulator. Physical-phone behavior and a real Windows desktop session remain unverified.
Novum Xenium 0.1.6
Novum Xenium is an improvement fork of Odysseus. Upstream attribution and licenses remain included.
- Android notifications use your own Novum server and the app’s private Tailscale connection. No Firebase account, Google messaging SDK, or external push service is required.
- Enable email, task, and chat alerts in the Android connection settings. Android shows a persistent background-connection notification; alerts contain generic text and open the authenticated item.
- Background checks run about once per minute while Android grants network access. Deep Doze can delay checks until maintenance windows. Email discovery runs about every two minutes. Force-stop, device restart, and Android battery restrictions can interrupt delivery until the app is reopened.
- Android remote email images can use normal phone networking while the configured Novum server stays inside its private connection.
- Server notifications preserve independent account cursors, avoid replaying old alerts on first use, and stop delivering after logout or an account change.
Validation: Android unit tests (13), lint, and debug/release builds passed. The signed APK matches the previous release’s signing certificate and passes checksum and 16 KB alignment checks. Linux and Windows desktop CI and artifact checksums passed. Physical-phone notification delivery and vendor-specific battery behavior remain unverified.
Novum Xenium v0.1.4 — Sharing and workspace controls
Added
- Android Share to Novum: stage text, links and files in a chat draft without sending automatically.
- Android connection checks and Retry through the embedded Tailscale connection.
- Agent tasks: search and status filters across delegated tasks and recent runs.
- Saved project preferences for model, chat mode, tool guidance and instructions.
- Workspace filename search with safe file downloads.
Fixed
- Repository modules can update across newer commits from the same source.
- Workspace downloads reject delegated/internal-tool credentials.
Validation
Focused backend tests and headless browser checks cover task filtering, project preferences and filename search. Android unit tests, lint and hidden-emulator checks passed for header recovery, text and single/multiple file sharing, draft preservation and no automatic send. A signed upgrade from 0.1.3 to 0.1.4 was verified. Physical-phone subnet connectivity still depends on your Tailscale route and access policy.
Backend additions are in main. Update the server checkout for the web features. Existing diff/Undo and Gallery search remain available.
Novum Xenium v0.1.3 — Android connection header
Android update: the connection header now hides when the server page connects. On app restart it remains visible for two seconds, then hides once connected. Connection and page errors restore the controls. Android Back at the first workspace page opens Connection settings.
Validated with Kotlin tests, Android lint, native UI checks in an isolated Android 15 emulator, and signed APK verification. The UI test simulates connection state; it does not claim physical-phone or router validation.
Install the Android 0.1.3 APK over 0.1.2 to preserve settings. Desktop binaries retain version 0.1.2 in this Android-only update.
Novum Xenium v0.1.2
Android companion and clearer workspace
- Install the signed Android APK from this release or NX Hub. Connect to your existing Novum server through the app's embedded Tailscale connection, including approved router subnet routes, without a phone-wide VPN.
- Follow work through compact task cards, clearer run status, grouped tool activity, and a workspace drawer for previews, files, browser activity, and subagents.
- Choose models through a searchable provider-grouped picker with full names and truthful availability. Improved spacing, button alignment, and mobile layout.
Android requires Android 8 or newer, a current System WebView, an existing Novum server, and Tailscale authorization. LAN access requires an approved subnet route and matching tailnet policy. Native uploads and direct server-file downloads are supported; browser-generated blob downloads are not yet supported.
Validation: Go bridge and Kotlin unit tests, Android lint, signed APK and 16 KiB alignment checks, Android 15 emulator connection startup/browser sign-in, and desktop/mobile workspace browser checks. Physical phone and user-router connectivity remain to be verified. See android/VALIDATION.md for the tested boundary.
Novum Xenium v0.1.1
The desktop app now stays in the system tray when you close its windows. Open the workspace or backend manager from the tray menu, or use Quit to exit the app. Docker keeps running independently.
- Uses the supplied NX logo in the desktop app, tray, and workspace.
- Restores the existing workspace without reloading the conversation.
- Reopening the app focuses the existing instance instead of creating duplicate windows and tray icons.
- Shows progress during backend actions and prevents duplicate clicks.
- Quit waits for an active backend operation to finish, then exits automatically.
- Keeps unsaved settings when refreshing status and ignores outdated status responses.
- Falls back to normal window closing when no Linux tray host is available.
Install or update through NX Hub, or use the Linux AppImage / Windows portable ZIP below. Backend updates are separate and remain available in the manager.
Validation: source CI passed with 6,752 Python tests and 17 skips. All 17 native Rust tests and the desktop browser regression passed. Linux native behavior is tested under headless Gamescope with and without a tray host, including watcher loss and queued Quit. Windows has build checks; live Windows acceptance remains pending.
Novum Xenium 0.1.0 — desktop preview
First desktop preview of Novum Xenium, built from NX-Odysseus with the original project history and AGPL license retained.
The Tauri app starts and stops your local Docker Compose backend, shows its health and logs, and opens the shared workspace UI. Backend updates check for a clean checkout, preserve recovery backups, and restore the previous source, image and data if startup fails. The interface uses flat NX styling.
Install the Linux AppImage or Windows portable ZIP through NX Hub. This preview adopts an existing backend checkout; Docker, Git and the initial backend setup are still required. See desktop setup.
Validation: 6,751 Python tests passed, 18 skipped. Linux and Windows desktop CI builds passed, with 14 native tests on each platform. The CI Linux package was installed through NX Hub and launched under headless Gamescope; the native manager identified the running backend, read logs and opened the workspace. The workspace was denied native management access. Windows Docker operation still needs testing on a Windows PC.
The backend context-budget fix is deployed and healthy on the tested Linux installation. A bounded ChatGPT-only agent check successfully called web_fetch and read the public README; its disposable test chat was removed. An earlier attempt encountered a provider connection error and the retry passed.
Desktop packages were built from release commit 2654489. SHA-256 sidecars are included for both packages.
