What's new in XFB 3.14159265

Gapless playback

  • The next playlist track is preloaded a few seconds before the current one ends and handed to the live audio pipeline — sample-continuous transitions in FX mode, near-instant otherwise.
  • Auto-cue trims the encoded leading/trailing silence many files carry, so tracks connect tight.
  • Crossfades are now mixed inside the audio engine on a single output stream — no cut or pop at the handoff.
  • The audio output survives device changes: switching or losing an output rebuilds the sink mid-play instead of stalling playback.
  • Fixed: with 432 Hz retune enabled, 44.1 kHz files (most MP3s) played noticeably sharp and fast.

Auto-mix

  • One click prepares crossfades for a selection or the whole playlist: XFB scans each track's waveform for its quiet head and tail and sets the overlaps for you. Your volume lines are never touched.
  • Also available per-transition from the playlist right-click menu, and tracks added by automode get their transitions auto-mixed too.

A refreshed, themeable interface

  • The main window is now built from dockable panels — drag them where you want, toggle each one from the new View menu, Lock the layout for a seamless look, or Reset the layout to start over.
  • Themes: System, Light, Dark, Midnight and Studio, plus a custom accent color (Options → General). Changes apply instantly.
  • Track artwork: embedded covers (or cover images beside the file) show as icons in the playlist and history, with a now-playing cover panel in the side area.
  • Stereo LED output level meter.

Torrent privacy, made honest and hardened

  • Clear scope everywhere in the UI: searching is anonymised via Tor — the BitTorrent download itself is not. A one-time consent dialog explains this when you enable the feature.
  • Disabling torrents is now a real kill-switch: nothing torrent-related starts at launch, and disabling it live stops all activity.
  • Downloads run with DHT/PEX/LPD disabled, encryption required and no injected public trackers; seeding stops on completion.
  • VPN status indicator in the Torrents tab, and a heads-up before downloading without one.
  • Download filenames are sanitized (path-traversal fix) and sensitive data (queries, magnets, URLs) no longer reaches the logs.

Also fixed

  • The external downloader sanitizes "/" in titles, fixing downloads of tracks with slashes in their names.
