🆕 What's new in 0.1.10

  • Fix for jitter in one eye on Quest 3 (Steam Link and Virtual Desktop), most visible on fine detail like grass and flowers when you move your head. Both eyes of every 3D image now use exactly the same head position, so streaming apps that expect a single head position per image no longer get two slightly different ones.
  • From 0.1.9: eyeOrder setting for testing (you can leave it at 0). From 0.1.8 and 0.1.7: smoother, better-synchronised eyes. From 0.1.6: adjustable head position (numpad, see Keys below).
  • Updating? Just run INSTALL.bat from this download. Your settings are kept.

  • Farming Simulator 25 on a Windows PC
  • A PC VR headset: Valve Index, HTC Vive, Meta Quest (with Link, Air Link or Virtual Desktop), Pico, Windows Mixed Reality and others
  • SteamVR (or your headset's PC app) set as the OpenXR runtime. In SteamVR: Settings → OpenXR → Set SteamVR as OpenXR runtime
  • A strong graphics card. VR needs a high frame rate.

🛠️ How to install

  1. Close the game.
  2. Unzip the download anywhere, for example your Desktop.
  3. Double-click INSTALL.bat.
    • If Windows says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.
    • If it can't find the game, it asks for the game folder. Paste it in and press Enter.
  4. Start the game with your headset on. When you load a savegame, make sure "VR (OpenXR, stereoscopic 6DOF)" is ticked in the mod list.
  5. You'll see "VR active". Press F8 to centre your view.

For the sharpest picture: after your first time in VR, quit the game and double-click SET VR RESOLUTION.bat. It sets the best render size for your headset automatically.

Please turn these off in the game's graphics options: frame generation (DLSS, XeSS or FSR), DLSS/DSR upscaling and motion blur. They cause doubled or blurry images in VR.

Mod shows in the list but stays flat and the F-keys do nothing? Close the game, open the game's x64 folder, right-click dinput8.dll → Properties → tick Unblock → OK, and do the same for openxr_loader.dll. (INSTALL.bat normally does this for you.)

Open an issue and attach the file <game folder>\x64\fs25vr.log. It records what happened.

For the technically curious
  • The zip contains a dinput8.dll bridge (an OpenXR compositor that hooks the game's D3D12 swap chain), the FS25_VR Lua mod, and an installer. The full source is in this repo.
  • It does not modify any game files. Deleting the files removes it completely.

🆕 What's new in 0.1.9

  • New setting for one-eye shimmer or stutter: if one eye shimmers or stutters on fine detail (grass, flowers) and the other eye doesn't, open fs25vr.ini in the game's x64 folder and add the line eyeOrder=1. Please tell us whether the problem moves to the other eye, goes away or stays put; that pinpoints the cause.
  • From 0.1.8: fix for jitter in the left eye only. From 0.1.7: both eyes always updated together. From 0.1.6: adjustable head position (numpad, see Keys below).

  • Fix for Quest via Steam Link (and other streaming headsets): the game was stuck at the headset's refresh rate (e.g. exactly 72 fps), so each eye only updated 36 times a second even on fast PCs. The game no longer waits for the headset at all: it renders as fast as your PC allows, and the headset always shows the newest images.
  • Performance logs: if your frame rate is still low, set profile=1 in fs25vr.ini, play for a few minutes and send the log files. The FAQ explains how.

  • Fix: the frame rate sometimes dropped very low (15–30 fps) for a whole session, even on fast PCs, and it seemed to come and go at random. The mod made the game wait for SteamVR far more than necessary. It now never waits, so the game runs at full speed whatever SteamVR is doing.
  • Updating? Just run INSTALL.bat from this download. Your settings are kept.
  • Includes everything from earlier versions: support for the official Steam version and game v1.24, automatic unblocking of the DLLs, and the Windows Defender FAQ.

🆕 What's new in 0.1.2

  • Tested with Farming Simulator 25 v1.24 (the latest update), as well as v1.20 and v1.5.
  • Fix: "the mod is in the list but everything stays flat and F8/F9/F10 do nothing". Windows often blocks downloaded DLLs ("this file came from another computer"). INSTALL.bat now unblocks them automatically. If you installed by hand, see the FAQ.
  • Windows Defender warning ("Trojan:Win32/Wacatac…!ml"): this is a false positive from Microsoft's machine-learning scanner, which distrusts VR injectors in general. The FAQ explains how to restore the file if it was quarantined. This version also avoids one of the code patterns that tends to trigger these warnings.
  • Better problem reports: the log file now records your exact game build, so problems on other game versions or stores can be fixed quickly.
