Release list
VersionUp 1.4.14
See at a glance whether you're looking at sequence versions or project versions.
- Versions always shows two tabs, Sequence and Project, each with its own count. The number used to sit on its own, so "3" could mean either; now it sits in the tab it counts
- An empty tab says so, instead of quietly showing the other list

VersionUp 1.4.13
Tabbed Settings and a custom-name click
- Settings is now three short tabs: Naming, Bins and Panel. One page each instead of one long sheet. Rest the pointer on anything and the line above Save says what it does
- Naming shows what each click makes. One row each for Click, ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows) and Alt-click on Project, with the exact name it would give. Every row starts closed, so the tab stays short; open one with its arrow to change it. Client, project, initials and the date now have their own labelled section
- A warning when you open an old project file. Open Job_v02 while Job_v04 sits beside it and the amber banner names the newer file, with a Show folder button. With Block VersionUp on an old version on (Settings → Panel), Project will not save from the old file
- Hold ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows) and click Version up to use your Custom name. Your everyday format stays on a plain click; ⌘-click makes that one version with your own pattern, which now always shows in Settings → Naming. It needs {version}, and {name} is now one of the tokens you can tap in. Rest on the button and the ⌘ row shows the exact name. The old-version warning still recognises the cut
- Hold Shift for a new major version, whatever your naming format. Brand Film_v03 becomes Brand Film_v04.1, keeping the name's own shape, custom patterns included. Rest on Version up and the Shift row shows the exact name
- Alt-click now files the alternative and opens it. It goes into its own ALT bin, or stays beside the original if you prefer (Settings → Bins), and it is put in your timeline, because that is where you wanted to be. The original is never touched
- Click a sequence in the version list to open it. The row you are on is marked
- The hover read-out uses your real sequence. With one sequence selected, each row shows exactly the name that press would make
- No more frozen animation while it works. Press a button and it quietly steps back to grey while Premiere takes over, then eases into the result instead of jumping
- Green means done, on every button. A clean run now turns green whichever button you pressed, alongside amber for partly done and red for failed
- The hover read-out fits a short panel. Docked short, it becomes one line that changes as you hold ⌘, Alt or Shift, with small key marks to show there is more
- New bins go beside your sequences, not at the top of the project. This changes a fresh install only; settings you have already saved are left alone
- The ☰ menu is four items, so it fits a short dock: Tour, Help & licence…, Send feedback…, then Settings… at the bottom. Help, your licence and the update check are now one window. It checks for updates by itself when you open it, and Check for updates, at the bottom, tells you straight away whether you're on the latest version. Hover tips also appear a little sooner
- Your licence is kept safer. It now lives in its own file with a backup, so a Premiere upgrade or an interrupted save cannot lose it, and a key pasted from an email with odd dashes or spaces is still read correctly
- Fixed: a year in a title, like Showreel 2026_v11, was read as part of the version, and a date like Promo_2026-09-27 could be read as a version number
- Fixed: versioning a whole bin could also renumber the old copies already filed inside it, and approving twice put an APPROVED bin inside APPROVED
- Fixed: "Same folder, no bin" for an alternative put it at the top of the project
- Fixed: Project could save over an existing file when a folder name contained # or %. It now refuses rather than risk it
- Fixed: a client, project or initials containing characters like / : ? made a file name Windows cannot save
- Fixed: the panel could stay on "Loading…" if Premiere started with it docked very short, and could overlap itself in a short, wide dock
- Fixed: pressing a second button while one was still working could start two jobs at once
- Fixed: Settings closed and said "saved" when a bin name was left empty. It now stays open on the right tab and says which box needs filling
- Fixed: Shift could raise a year that sat in front of the version, so NK Showreel 2026.1 became 2027.1. The year is now left alone
- Fixed: a ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows) on a dotted name like Edit_v0.3 now gives v0.4, and a 001-style series keeps counting 002, 003 rather than restarting at v01
- Fixed: choosing a saved preset in Settings replaced your ⌘ pattern, and Save could rewrite the preset. Presets now change only when you press Save preset
- Fixed: opening Help & licence brought back an update banner you had dismissed with Not now
- Fixed: your client and project names went missing after Project made the next project file
- Fixed: after your first ⌘ version up, opening the old cut gave no warning that it was old
- Fixed: the ☰ menu could run off the bottom of a short docked panel. It now scrolls

VersionUp 1.3.0
Quieter buttons, and a version list you can hide
- The version list can be put away. Settings → Options → Show version history. On by default; turn it off and the list at the foot of the panel goes, giving that height back to the buttons. Nothing is forgotten — the panel keeps its record and the switch brings it straight back
- The buttons look quieter. The face is now darker than the panel rather than lighter, so a button reads as cut into the surface instead of sitting on it, and the line around it is a line rather than a frame
- Your email address is no longer printed in the panel. The licence line says Active and which machine you are on, and nothing else — so a screenshot of VersionUp never carries your address
- The machine count comes from the product, not from your key. A key issued before the two-machine limit was settled could show the wrong number; it now always shows the right one
- The buttons say what they do. Version up and Approve now carry their names under the symbol, the way Project always has. Previously Project was the only button nobody had to guess at
- A narrow dock gets bars, not squares. Squeeze the panel below about 200px and the three buttons become full-width bars with their names beside the symbol; squeeze further and the words step aside, all three together rather than one at a time. That used to start at 170px — narrower than the panel would let itself be dragged, so most people never saw it
- Any button can be hidden, Version up included. Turn off what you do not use and the panel reshapes around what is left — no empty band where a button used to be. The last one on cannot be switched off, because a panel with no buttons has no obvious way back
- A list of your versions, at the foot of the panel and closed until you open it. Sequence and Project tabs, the name and when it was made, and a green tick on any cut that was approved. Clicking a project row opens its folder
- The panel only lists versions it made itself. Anything you renamed by hand reads as no record rather than pretending to remember it
- Alt-click Project to branch the project file the same way Alt branches a sequence, and Shift-click for a new major. Cmd-click shows the current project in the Finder
- Name your project versions your own way — a pattern with date, time, client, project and initials in it, or one of six ready-made presets
- VersionUp will no longer save over a project that already exists. Saving a project cannot be undone, so a click that would land on a file already on disk is stopped instead
- You can see when it is busy. The button dims and reads WORKING while Premiere saves. It does not animate, because Premiere stops the panel dead while it works — a spinner would be a lie
- The settings sheet has been rebuilt: one column, no boxes, grey headings and a symbol on every row, and a visual picker for choosing which buttons you want
- Feedback has a third option: Testimonial. If VersionUp has saved you something, you can say so, tell me who to credit, and tick whether I may quote you on the website. Nothing is ever quoted without that tick
- The buttons' corners now fit their shape. Squeeze the panel and they tighten; give it room and they soften — so a squashed dock no longer turns them into lozenges
- Save, Send, Activate and Close are the right colour now. They were still Adobe's blue while the rest of the panel had moved to violet
- The three menu items that open a window you fill in now say so, with a trailing "…"
- The accent colour is now violet rather than Adobe blue. White text on the old blue fell below the accessibility standard for normal text; the violet clears it

VersionUp 1.1.0
Alt-click branches, Shift-click starts a new major
- Alt-click Version up to branch rather than advance:
Brand Film_v03gets youBrand Film_ALT_v03, a copy sitting beside it. The original is not renamed, not archived and not moved, and your timeline stays exactly where it was - Alt again and the series continues —
_ALT_v04,_ALT_v05— so three ways of cutting the same scene sit together - Making an alternative of an old cut is allowed even when the wrong-version guard is on: the client asking what v03 sounds like with the other music is a real request, and nothing is renamed
- Shift-click Version up to raise the major version —
Cut_v4.4becomesCut_v5.1, notCut_v4.5. For the cut that has been through four rounds of notes and is now a different edit rather than the next revision of the same one - If your names have no major part, Shift starts one:
Brand Film_v03becomesBrand Film_v04.1, and ordinary clicks then runv04.2,v04.3 - Hover a button and it shows what each key does — Click, ⌥ click and ⇧ click — with a worked example on every row (
v1.2 → v1.3,v1.2 → ALT_v1.2,v1.2 → v2.1), and the row for the key you are actually holding lights up. It waits a second before appearing, so it no longer flashes at every pointer that crosses the panel - The arrow on Version up turns into two arrows passing in opposite directions while Alt is held, so you can see which press you are about to make
- The panel is shorter at every dock size. It no longer prints "VersionUp" — Premiere's tab already says that two centimetres above — and the header no longer takes a band of its own. The ☰ floats in the top corner, so Settings and your licence stay one click away, and the buttons start about 23px higher on every dock
- The buttons start darker and light up the moment you point at one, with the coloured edge easing in just behind. Move away and the colour fades out gently rather than snapping off
- Each button takes its colour from the VersionUp mark — blue for Version up, green for Approve, purple for Project. A tint of it on hover, and after a clean run a ring in that button's own colour at full strength, which turns once around the tile before handing back to the hover colour
- The rename preview has gone. Against real sequence names it was two nearly identical lines where only the last characters differed, which is not a preview so much as a wall. The Project button still shows the version it will write, and the status line says how many sequences are selected
- Fixed: Alt-click on a
v1.2-style name put the marker inside the version number —Cut_v1_ALT.2. It now readsCut_ALT_v1.2. Wrong since Alt-click shipped, and only noticed when the panel had to state an example

VersionUp 0.88.0
The wrong-version warning now stays up while you work.
- The amber "you're on an old version" banner used to disappear the moment you clicked anything in the Project panel — exactly when you were most likely to be looking at it. It now follows your timeline, whatever else is selected.
- Check for updates, in the ☰ menu. The panel looks once a day on its own; this asks straight away.
- Fixed: docked as a narrow strip, the three buttons sat far apart with small symbols. Tighter gutters, bigger icons.
- Fixed: docked tall and narrow, the panel could stay in the compact strip instead of using the height it had.

VersionUp 0.87.0
Tell me what's broken without leaving Premiere.
- Submit feedback, in the ☰ menu. Type it, press Send, done — no email app, no copying version numbers by hand.
- Help, in the ☰ menu, opens the new documentation with a guide to every button.
- Tips & tour is four steps instead of six, and set larger so it can actually be read.
- Fixed: the panel stopped resizing its buttons with the window.
- Fixed: choosing a tour step or a feedback type left the button looking unpressed.
