Third alpha of mcopt.

  • Fixes terrain lagging behind at the edge of your render distance in new land: in singleplayer, while new chunks are generating nearby, mcopt caps the frame rate at twice your display's refresh rate so world generation keeps up.
  • Smoother frame pacing on displays that report frame timing: on a 120 Hz MacBook screen, nearly every refresh now shows a new frame.
  • mcopt no longer adds its own fps counter. To keep the fps on screen, press F3 + F6, find fps in the list and set it to Always.
  • The render thread no longer stops mid-frame to wait for the GPU.
  • Less server work: faster point-of-interest searches, chunk ticking and chunk lookups.

Still alpha: expect bugs, and back up your worlds.

Second alpha of mcopt.

  • Distant Horizons no longer crashes. mcopt detects it and stays on OpenGL, so it runs without the Metal renderer's speedup; mcopt's other optimizations stay on.
  • Lighting and texture handling allocate less, so there's less garbage-collection work.
  • Far terrain (experimental): less flicker where far terrain hands off to real chunks.
  • Launching with -Dmcopt.profile=none no longer writes profile=alpha into config/mcopt.properties.

Still alpha: expect bugs, and back up your worlds.
