v0.18

Choose a tag to compare

@notK50BML notK50BML released this 22 Aug 03:38
f731e9b

MAJOR FIX because of the YTM playback giving "Source Error 2004" again. Fixed multiple YTM-related app bugs. Most of the code was taken from Metrolist, but it was changed to be better adapted to Outertune's features and UI. Artist linking has also been overhauled to reduce the chance of incorrect and missing artists for some songs. The equaliser has also been given a specific settings page, and a bug which made the compressor settings not be persistent has also been fixed. An error which made word-by-word sync break when battery saver was on has also been fixed. This release is ESSENTIAL if you require a stable YTM playback experience. Also, improved the placement of items for the layout editor.

v0.17

@notK50BML notK50BML released this 15 Aug 11:26
27f9284

Remember when I said 0.16 is the BIGGEST release so far? Well, this one adds even more stuff, and as well as the usual fixes and improvements.

Highlights
Fully-customisable Material 3 12-band parametric equaliser and compressor

Dynamic liquid theme (with audio-reactive ferroliquid-inspired animations)

Major fixes to portrait and low-dpi screens, including better UI placement and better-aligned icons

Equaliser:

A 12-band parametric equaliser with full band controls, with, as said, a compressor. It has 14 preset configurations, though you can change these, as well as save your own nameable presets. All the the individual frequencies of each of the individual 16 bands can be selected, to an accuracy of 1hz from 16 to 99 and in 100hz increments from 1khz to 16khz. Each band's decibel range, filter type and other settings can all be customised. The equaliser is complemented with a compressor, which can adjust attack release, compression ratio, loudness threshold and makeup gain. It took a LONG TIME to fix all the contrast issues too, but now I think all the text should be contrasted with the background (make sure the contrast setting is on, and it's only available for liquid, blur and frosted glass player effects). The dials are all knobs with a blue-green-yellow progression depending on their position. Also, the equaliser is completely Material-3 compatible, and uses the same background as the player.

Liquid theme:

An audio-reactive visualiser-like theme which renders a dynamic pattern on the player background depending on the tempo of the music and the tone. It took a LOT of trial and error to finally finish it, and it's a bit buggy, but it still works as intended, and it is highly customisable. You can pick from 2 different shapes (which are still being refined, though they work, and yes, more will be added later on).

Among other bug fixes is the complete overhaul of the landscape player, with icons finally being centred, an improved player layout without icons being offset by unnecessary amounts and a few other minor edits to the placement of buttons to improve the UI.

The layout editor has also been overhauled to include grouping and ungrouping icons for better customisation.

v0.16 Core Release

@notK50BML notK50BML released this 09 Aug 04:18

The BIGGEST release so far!

This release, among other things, adds:

A lightweight standalone UI editor

Song recognition (taken largely from https://github.com/metrolistgroup/metrolist)

Word-by-word lyrics syncing

Small and major bug fixes

Improved contrast

Edited and updated README

The UI editor

This lets you reorder and move around UI elements. Download the .HTML file in a browser and open it to run it. Keep in mind that everything is very buggy and still a WIP, but it works...sorta. I just thought that this is a good idea, because it still works and I think it's quite cool, and I've never seen it before. You can move around the blocks in free placement mode, and you can also edit their size, orientation and other features. The whole app runs in browser, and it's a HTML, so it's extremely lightweight (around 40kB). Once you get a good layout, you can download a small .json file, which is importable into the app. Simply go to Settings > Appearance and controls > Player layout > Import a layout file and import it. You can always revert the layout if you want to. The layout editor also allows you to import your saved layout to edit further. Note: this is VERY buggy, but it may work, so I hope this is gonna be a good feature.

Song Recognition

This allows you to play a song and the recogniser feature can (hopefully) find the correct song. This is largely working, but there will be some incorrect songs being fetched, especially if the song is a cover of an original song. Still, it likely works most of the time, and I hope it works for you!

Word-by-word lyrics syncing

This feature, which was supposed to be integrated in the original app, but for some reason didn't work for me, has finally been fixed and properly integrated, along with a refresh of the lyrics settings. Now, you not only have word-by-word lyrics, but also settings to reorder providers, or have Outertune automatically fetch the best one. The karaoke lyrics, which have been broken for the longest time, has been fixed as well.

Small and major bug fixes

Ever since the frosted glass and liquid options were release, there have been a few problems with contrast. Hence, I've finally fixed the contrast issue for the lyrics, among other things, so it's also tied to the match text to artwork setting. Also, many many iterations to the above features, as well as the addition of the app icon setting (which was in 0.15, but I forgot to type that in). Also, improved settings, a much better song stats page, with the song stats order being fixed. This also includes being able to see a list of top songs to a length of 50 or more, compared with the 6. This also fixes a bug where the song title and the action row would be in different lines if the DPI of the screen was below 400.

Note: this release adds the core-arm64-v8a APK file, for users who want a smaller download. This APK is smaller than the universal flavour while still being compatible with 99% or more of devices, as most modern phones use an ARM64 chip. If you are using a very old device or a non-standard device, it is recommended to use the universal flavour for best compatibility.

v0.15 Core Release

Choose a tag to compare

@notK50BML notK50BML released this 09 Aug 01:24

I'll just say that the naming is now a bit confusing, but basically, the versioning will be v0.xx from now on, and I decided to keep it as 0.15 instead of 0.16 because this is just a minor update. Keep in mind that the naming has changed, and I'll worry if I should migrate the app to v1.0 when we get there, but for now, this is how it is.

This isn't really a big release, I just added some small things like improving the UI, adding liquid and frosted glass effects, and a few other changes.

Really, the biggest alteration is probably the release name; I decided to drop the .10 part and now it's just 0.15. I'm working on a much bigger release, so I think this is just an interim release, but it adds some nice stuff.

Reworked the UI a bit, and that's about it.

v0.10.15 Core Release

@notK50BML notK50BML released this 08 Aug 09:07

This release uses the Universal APK for improved compatibility.

This release has added DISCORD RICH PRESENCE 🎊

Also, a few small improvements I forgot about

Anyway, about the rich presence:

You can login using either your account or with a token.

Rich presence is shown, along with a progress bar, current song progress and the song length. The song title is clickable, as well as the artist. It has been tested and there's no random stops, errors or other problems. If there are any, do let me know.

Small fixes

The APK has been properly signed
The app version has been properly updated in the about menu
Other small little things you probably won't notice, but it's there :)

v0.10.14 Core Release

Choose a tag to compare

@notK50BML notK50BML released this 07 Aug 07:07
fb49352

Short changelog

Actually an APK (finally)
Shrunk the size of the APK slightly while retaining most if not all useful features (let me know if I dropped any by accident)
Added choice of HQ or normal covers
Ported some engine components from Metrolist (https://github.com/metrolistgroup/metrolist)
Removed the lyrics button from the player screen (this was a personal decision, but if people want it added back then I can create a separate release for it as well)
Improved general performance and drastically improved song load times for previously uncached songs
Other small improvements

This release includes fixes for the album artwork blurriness, potentially fixes problems with bad syncing and saves among other things

From the previous release, the original developer may have forgotten to add that a small bug which required you to click the playlist (or other) buttons multiple times to return to the correct screen has also been fixed. Loading times have been improved for songs and so has the ability to fetch songs faster. We are currently working on adding a proper rich presence integration, and I would like to thank https://github.com/reocat for his work on the rich presence which I hope to integrate into this version of the app. Once again, almost all the work is thanks to him, and I'm just aggregating the features. Also, nice to have another cat-lover!

Known problems:

Some album covers are fetched by default in the upscaled resolution and this means that the HQ Cover toggle doesn't do anything. This is primarily a YTM Server-side issue, so it's not really fixable, but if enough people want it perhaps we can do something about it.
