UIA Word support: unable to read character styles

Steps to reproduce:

1. With UIA support for Word enabled, launch Word and create a blank document.
2. Type test followed by a space.
3. Press alt control shift s to open the styles list.
4. Press f6 to focus it.
5. Tab to new style and press it.
6. Type test into the name box, set the type to character and change the font size to 14.
7. Tab to OK and press it.
8. Back in the document, type testing.

Actual behavior:

Pressing NVDA+f on testing doesn't read the changed style name

Expected behavior:

Pressing NVDA+f should read the changed style name

Have you tried any other versions of NVDA? If so, please report their behaviors.

I think that this is normal, as UIAutomation is not likely to expose a style's name through the standard API.

2024 update: I can't reproduce this after following the STR from Tyler.

My system info:

• NVDA version: 2024.3 beta 2
• Windows version: Windows 11 Version 24H2 preview (build 26100.1150)
• Word version: 16.0.17726.20126
• Use UIA in Word set to: when necessary
• Word document is recognized as: UIA object

Input and output:

Input	NVDA says
Opens Word 365	Document 1
NVDA+F with the document empty	style Normal Aptos 12.0 pt black on white align left line spacing Multiple 1.16
Types "test "	no speech (because I disable typed character/word announcement)
Press Control+Alt+Shift+S and follow the initial STR to create a test style	Dialog content
Back at the document, type "testing"	Again no word/character announcement (see above)
Move the cursor to the third "t" right after space	T
NVDA+F	style Test Aptos 14.0 pt black on white align left line spacing Multiple 1.16

If this is the expected behavior (now that NVDA does announce this), then I vote to close this issue as resolved in a later NVDA release.
