o7 Debrief Initial Release

The first public release of o7 Debrief: a free, local-first Windows app that turns your Elite Dangerous Player Journal into a self-contained Commander Mission Debrief you can read, keep or share.

It sits quietly in the system tray, follows your journal as you play and writes you a clean, verifiable account of what you actually did out there. Every figure traces back to a real journal entry, so nothing is estimated, inferred or padded.

Highlights

  • Two ways to debrief. Report your last session or your whole history to date in a couple of clicks.
  • Automatic on shutdown. Leave it running in the tray and it generates a debrief for you when you close the game.
  • After the fact too. Did not have it running while you played? It can still read your last session or your full history whenever you like.
  • Real numbers only. Every credit, jump and scan maps to a real entry in your journal, so the figures are verifiable and never guessed.
  • A report worth keeping. Each debrief is one self-contained file that opens in any browser, plus a plain-text version ready to paste onto Discord or Reddit.
  • Honest rank reporting. Tier-ups show straight away; the fine-grained rank percentages settle on your next launch, because the journal only records that progress at startup.
  • Your Commander, your ship. The header names you, your ship type and your ship's name from the same session.
  • Browse your back catalogue. Recent debriefs lists everything you have produced, newest first; it pages through the lot so a long history never gets in your way.
  • Local-first, always. No cloud, no account, no telemetry. Your journal never leaves your machine and the app needs no administrator rights to install.

What is in a debrief

A single, self-contained report covering:

  • A header with your Commander name, ship type and ship name.
  • Your headline session totals at a glance.
  • A breakdown by activity: exploration, combat, mining, missions and exobiology.
  • A session log you can tab through by activity.
  • Your rank progress across the session.

Two ways in

  • Left-click the tray icon for the home screen: your live status, the two debrief actions and your recent reports.
  • Right-click for the full menu: the same actions plus your recent debriefs, settings and help.

Make it yours

In Settings you can choose your report format (a self-contained web page or Markdown), pick where your debriefs are saved and have o7 Debrief start with Windows so it is always ready.

Installing

Run the included setup installer on Windows 10 or 11. No administrator rights are required. Once installed, o7 Debrief starts in your system tray, ready for your next session.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Elite Dangerous on PC (o7 Debrief reads the Player Journal the game writes locally)
