o7 Debrief

A performance release. o7 Debrief now sits lighter on your machine and stays quiet in the background, however long your Commander's journal has grown.

What's new

• Much lighter on memory. Generating a debrief no longer loads your whole journal history into memory. "Debrief my last session" now reads only the session it needs (the newest log file or two) rather than every journal file you have ever written, so it stays fast and small no matter how many years of logs have piled up.
• Quiet in the background. The tray app used to hold on to every event it had seen since launch, creeping upward the longer it stayed open. It now keeps only the session in progress, so leaving o7 Debrief running for days no longer grows its memory use.
• "Debrief my history to date" stays bounded too. The all-history report now streams your journal one file at a time instead of holding it all at once, so even a very large journal folder is summarised without exhausting your RAM. The report it produces is exactly the same as before.

Why this matters

A Commander with years of play can build up a journal folder hundreds of megabytes or larger. Earlier versions read all of it into memory to produce a debrief, which on a big journal could consume a great deal of RAM and, on some machines, slow things to a crawl. This release reads only what each debrief actually needs, so o7 Debrief behaves as the small, quiet background tool it was meant to be.

• Local-first as ever: every figure traces back to a real journal entry and your journal never leaves your machine. No cloud, no account, no telemetry. The update check is the one exception, running only when you ask for it.
• Your whole session is covered, from launch through to when you quit the game; the debrief can also fire automatically the moment the game closes.
