FAQ
On sample data (the default), no: videos are recorded against a copy of a database built from your migrations and seeders. On your own data, the recorder uses your app like a person would, so avoid flows that delete things. Never point it at a copy of production.
The parts the AI reads go to your AI provider: only the folders in ai.code.paths, never .env, with secrets hidden first. With a local model through Ollama, nothing leaves your machine. See Security.
No. Production needs only the published videos on your storage disk. The library and the Blade player read them. The studio, the recorder's browser and the working files stay on your machine.
Usually between 2 cents and a dollar, depending on the model, length and effort. You see an estimate first, set a limit, and each video shows what it actually cost. Recording again from the same plan costs nothing. See AI Providers and Costs.
No. Updates only add to the package's tables. Videos, plans, recordings, published files and costs are kept.
Yes: Record as lists the user types found from your roles. On sample data, a user of each type is made for the recording.
On sample data, yes, in most cases. The AI reads the middleware, policies and gates for the pages in the flow and sets up what the user needs. See Sample Data.
With test cards, yes. Stripe Elements and similar fields sit in iframes, which plan steps can reach. Put test card numbers in ai.notes. CAPTCHAs, SMS codes, email links and "Sign in with Google" can't be automated.
Yes. The recorder uses the app in a real browser, so it doesn't matter how pages are built. The AI reads resources/js and resources/ts as well as your Blade views, and can look at a page when the code doesn't settle a label.
A Vue, React or other frontend in its own repository, on its own address, that uses your Laravel app as its API works too, including with Sanctum tokens, JWTs or SSO. See Separate Frontend.
Yes. Sample data uses SQLite, and most migrations run on it unchanged; one that only runs on MySQL needs a guard. See Troubleshooting.
Yes, both optional. Claude writes a line for each step, and a voice speaks it: a free local voice after php artisan video-demo:install-voice, or your computer's own voice. With an OpenAI, Gemini or ElevenLabs key, their voices are offered too. Music is four built-in tracks, free to use, or your own. See Voice-over and Music.
No: Anthropic's API has no speech output, so Claude writes the lines and a separate voice speaks them. That works with only an Anthropic key, for free, using the local voices.
Yes, through Prism. See AI Providers and Costs.
