ezicode 0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@seraprogrammer seraprogrammer released this 25 Sep 23:30

A native code editor with LSP support, an integrated terminal, built-in Git and diffing, themes, and a GPU-accelerated UI.

Install

Debian / Ubuntu

sudo apt install ./ezicode_0.1.0_amd64.deb

Fedora / RHEL / openSUSE

sudo dnf install ./ezicode-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm

Arch

sudo pacman -U ./ezicode-0.1.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

Any Linux distro, no package manager

chmod +x ezicode-0.1.0-x86_64.AppImage && ./ezicode-0.1.0-x86_64.AppImage

Anything with a shell

curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -LsSf https://github.com/olovalabs/ezicode/releases/latest/download/ezicode-installer.sh | sh

Windows — download the .msi or the .zip. macOS — Apple Silicon only, download the .tar.gz.

What's in it

  • GPU-accelerated editor core on GPUI/blade
  • Integrated terminal (gpui-terminal, Alacritty-derived)
  • Zero-config LSP with on-demand provisioning for the JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, HTML, JSON, YAML and Bash servers
  • Built-in Git and an interactive diff viewer
  • File explorer, fuzzy file finder, command palette, Go to Line
  • Zed-compatible themes and typography
  • Taskbar icon and desktop entry handled correctly on every Linux distro, including the _NET_WM_ICON path for panels that never read the desktop entry

Requirements

Linux needs a working Vulkan driver — the UI is GPU-rendered, and without one the window opens but draws nothing.

Known limitations

  • Linux binaries are built against glibc 2.35, so the .deb needs Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12+, and the shell installer refuses anything older.
  • macOS is Apple Silicon only; there is no x86_64 or universal build.
  • Nothing is code-signed or notarized, so macOS Gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen will warn on first run.
  • The .deb, .rpm and Arch packages are brand new and were not exercised in CI before this release; please report packaging problems on the issue tracker.

Verifying a download

Every artifact has a .sha256 next to it, and all of them are collected in sha256.sum:

sha256sum -c ezicode-0.1.0-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz.sha256
