About the 0.9.dev series

The 0.9.devX releases are development releases on the path towards OME-Zarr 1.0. There will be no OME-Zarr 0.9 release: the 0.9.dev version series is used to indicate that we have moved beyond the last minor release (0.6) and are working towards the 1.0 specification.

These releases may contain changes that are not yet final and should be considered part of the ongoing 1.0 development process. The version number is therefore primarily an indication of where we are in that process, rather than a promise of a future 0.9 release.
